I hate using paypal at the best of times but its become an evil nessecity when selling on ebay.

2 months ago a bloke from Malta contacted me regarding something I was selling on ebay and asked if I would end the auction early for £75 including postage. I ripped his arm off at the socket as I was only after £30 (and at that I would be trebbeling my outlay!)

He duly paid via paypal and the next day his purchase was posted off via Royal Mail International parcels.
Fast forward to this morning and I recieve an email from paypal that this clown has started a none receipt dispute and they have taken £75 out of my paypal account!
They are asking for proof of postage or he gets his money back! Trouble is its over 2 months ago and I cant find it anywhere. How the f*ck can they effectively steal money from my account without contacting me first?

Im sure the bloke has recieved it and as it wasnt sent recorded ( which he didnt ask for ) is trying it on to get his money back.

So ontop of paying for the privilage of recieving money and the extorsionate amount we are charged to use ebay I get £75 taken from me just because someone claims they havnt recieved something when there is a high chance he actually did.

After speaking to royal mail this morning they said it could well be stuck in customs his end if he genuinely hasnt got it yet.
Gah Im absolutely livid.

1st rule sending anything......

Always use recorded, even if you end up paying for it....

You admit, you made a killing selling the item, and now are paying for the fact you tried to save a few p's.

Maybe he is one of the many honest people who use ebay and has not recived the item....
Plenty of stuff never seems to get passed central sorting office in London Twisted Evil

Mind you, you would have expected him to have sent some emails asking where it is.....
Which would be a good come back to PP, that he has never contacted you that he has not recived the item.

I really hate Paypal. It does my head in. I've had so much trouble with it lately. Latest one being that somebody won my iPhone and sent my a couple of hundred through Paypal, and they felt that this needed a security feature. So they are holding the money until I receive positive feedback Confused

Another is that they keep paying by e-cheque, this takes 11 days to clear, bloody ridiculous, and ringing them gets you nowhere.

Its possible he offered way over the odds cos he knew he wasnt going to actually pay.

As you say, its possible he really hasnt received it yet.

I'd tell him to hold fire for a bit. Post within this country can be slow let alone to malta.

I once ordered something and it hadnt come after a week or two, I was a bit concerned, and contacted the ebay seller. They claimed off the post office due to the type of delivery they were doing, it included insurance or something, and sent me another one. I was happy.

But then I got a second item delivered, so one must have taken ages to arrive.

Its quite possible for something to take longer than 4 weeks to arrive in this country let alone to malta.

If he hasnt sent you any emails, it could be his english is limited so explaining to him may be tricky.

I had someone try to scam me with a story like that!

Sent me a genuine question so they could get my email address, then sent an email saying they'd clicked buy it now, then a spoof paypal email saying payment had been received and would show in my account when I receive feedback.

The 'buyer' received nothing but abuse.

Used to be an almost daily occurance for me. I don't accept Paypal anymore for international orders as they can't confirm address unless they're in UK, US or Eire.

Paypal are cvnts. About 18 months ago they suspended about £8k worth of withdrawls from my company. We used Paypal for everything. They suspended our account until we faxed them copies of all purchase invoices, all sales invoices and all consignment numbers for 100s of orders. We were unable to take any orders for about 2 weeks while we sorted it out. I rung Paypal and said I'd bring all the documents over to their HQ in Dublin as I wanted to sort it out quickly, but they wouldn't give me their address and said the only thing I could do was fax it all over (Which cost a fortune as there was loads of it).

I stopped using Paypal, but now eBay requires us to take it.

Never send anything to anyone without a confirmed address. Even if you have a signed proof of delivery they can just get the money back for it. Joke Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Makes you laugh stuff like this as anyone who knows how PP works knows its a scam.
If the money is not there the goods don't get sent.... End of....

We get people calling saying i got this PP trans i don't recognise, so we ask have you got a PP account.
Usually the answer is yes.
So its have you checked your account.
Usually no (doh).
So of we send them off to check.....
They come back saying yes it is.....
So its send them back to PP who will sort it very quickly.
PP usually refund in 7 to 10 days if your account has been hacked.

So when someone buys something and the money gets frozen, good chance that it was someone who had hacked into another PP account to buy stuff.

Paypal is indeed shite.

I have spent about £150 on ebay over the past week. And my bank account which I specifically use for paypal (I transfer from my current into my small "paypal" account) still shows £200 as my available balance.

Even though I paid for these items well over 10 days ago. And the paypal statement says "Complete" for every transaction on there.

Ive got a feeling its going to come back in a few days as a reversal or something. Sad

You now officially have me worried Neutral

I'm wary to it normally, so I have an address, his mobile number (I spoke to the fella on the phone as he was talking about picking it up, but as he is buying it as a present for his missus he couldn't get away without her finding out). If it had just been an email I'd have been suspicious but it was a 15 minute phone call, and Paypal itself shows it up and said it could be posted it's just they were holding the money.

I'll ring the guy tomorrow and hope now, I'm going to lose sleep over it Sad

Worse thing if it all goes fine, I got stung with a £7.50 Paypal charge, fucking rip off for a shit service Rolling Eyes

i have never had trouble with paypal since i signed up back in 2002 some time.
the only dispute was that a mobile phone never arrived that i got from a seller on ebay, the seller kept giving excuses so i contacted paypal after a couple of weeks and i got refunded.
next thing i know the seller sent me an email saying that he posted it this morning but paypal has nicked £?? from his account.
i told him if it arrives then i will send it back.
it came the next day so i returned it.
i must have had at least 300 transactions and that was the only time i had to deal with paypal.

but scamming fekkers exist in all walks of life and i NEVER do a contract outside of ebay.
no such thing as a free lunch etc Wink

Ive provided paypal with a copy of the receipt of postage, which to me proves it was posted. But no. Not to paypal. They have refunded the guy in full so it seems.

Theiving utter scumbags.

I wouldn't be too worried then, my paypal showed nothing and the guy hadn't even clicked buy it now.

It is a bit odd that paypal have started doing this though, it just opens up a huge door way for scammers. Mine also wanted me to post to nigeria and gave me £75 for postage in the spoof email. Laughing

Yup, happened to my OH only last month!
The item was received by the buyer within 2 days, we received pos feedback, all as should be

A week later, email.... oh, there is a dispute, and so we have taken the money back from YOU
!!!!!!!!!! wtf???????

I mean, we sent the item, they got it, got feedback from them....

But paypal said NO
You are the nob here

Turns out the buyer didnt have enough money in there account to pay
Cos we didn't send recorded we have NO comeback at all

Thankfully the buyer responded to our emails and re-paid in the end

My advice...
send EVERYTHING recorded and make em pay the other end
