Sounds like it's running lean. Possibly a fuel starvation problem?

I'd start by pulling the fuel line off at the carb and make sure it's getting through OK. Is it a 2 stroke or 4?

On the newer ones the catalysers fall out for fun and block the exhaust up. Not sure as it's a Speedfight 1 but on Speedfight 2s there is a rubber pipe on the exhaust, pull that off and see if the problem persists.

To TheBassJunky, it's a 2 stroke.
