Hi

Will depend on the individual kits. They will be brighter but also the part that emits the light is likely to be in a slightly different place to a conventional bulb which will likely make the beam pattern different and quite probably dazzle others.

They are also not really road legal.

All the best

I'm thinking of getting proper HID lights on my Speed Four, as they stock headlights are dire. Any ideas where to look?

One thing to look out for with that TT600 kit - it looks to only come with one bulb/ballast/igniter set. You can get single H4 kits for cheaper on eBay. Price is about right for a double one.

Also, with the BI-Xenon bit there are two ways of doing it - either moving the reflector (the one you posted does this) or having a seperate fillament bulb for High Beam which isn't as bright as the dipped beam.

I got mine from diane-shop; that's the name of the seller on ebay. I've used the kit for a good year now and it is the difference between light and day. I had to play about with the beam to get the level just right, but in the dark, i've not noticed any oncoming drivers being dazzled or flashing - in my opinion, i had more people flash at me when i had my philips Xtreme vision on.

It took a good 2 hours to fit properly and wire up - finding the right places to mount the ancillaries is a bit of a pain. My MOT tester (not mentioning any names) has said that he's happy to check if it fits the beam dispersion pattern and pass it if its OK. Shouldn't think it's as bad as having a badly adjusted, glaring light.

Like Titz i got mine from diane shop too, had them almost a year now and work just fine. Make sure your headlamp aim is spot on after you fit them if not aim them a little down. Thumbs Up Certainly give a much brighter light output and from the comments i've had whilst on rideouts they are very noticeable in the daytime too.
Fitting is easy if your bike has a big fairing to hide the ballast.

Unlikely. HID bulbs take a long time to get up to full brightness so generally are only any use for lights that are on for a long time. As high beam needs to be switched on they are generally left as a convenional halogen bulb, which is easy if you have one headlight for dipped beam and a seperate headlight for high beam.

If you have a headlight that uses an H4 bulb (ie, dip and high beam from the same bulb) then you will probably loose any high beam function.

All the best

Plus they don't like being on for short amounts of time, it leads to the bulbs life decreasing.

if you look here, about half way down, you'll see how they get high/low beam. HID on ebay

A few guys I know have fitted these and they work just fine.
