worth attending just to view the bikes etc?

no intention of trying to get cheap kit etc, just thinking of a day out more than anything.

Went to NEC 06 and really enjoyed it, was a great day out just to oggle at all the bikes, let alone all the other stuff.

Stunt show, minimoto, pit bike racing, Honda offroad experience, where as long as you are 14+ and claim to have ridden a bike they are quite happy to give you a CRF450 and a load of sirt jumps to play with, Supermoto School, and of course loverly ladeez.

I think its worh going if you are local to the NEC, but not really worth travelling for.

Before, I have been for test rides, the offroad bit, and bits and pieces from the cheaper stalls that sell all sorts.

However now I have my own offroad bike, I could probably get a test ride from most dealers, and ebay sells anything I want without having to lug it home

I'm not sure I should go this year, but i probably will.

EDIT

wall of death is good fun to watch.

It's worth going if, as has been said, you're nearby. And best if you don't go on a weekend.

All the big manufacturers should be there with their stuff for people to climb and drool over, and ditto quite a few of the smaller guys too, and it's interesting to have a poke and prod and see what you'd get for your money.

If you're licensed, there early enough, and don't mind waiting in a queue for a bit, the test-rides are good, as you can get no-strings access to one of a wide array of random bikes.

I like to go, it's a day out afterall and the older I get the less time I seem to be getting to myself, so I'll be there. The only question for me is do I pay the extra £10 and go on a preview day?

I'm in the "only if it is near'ish" camp.

Always regret travelling up from London as no better than the London shows.

I'd recommend it, there was barely anyone there when we went on preview day, we had the run of the place to ourselves, and all the riding stuff lasts longer.

I was going to go on last day this year (as I have previous 2 years) but looks like I won't be bothering now, unless I am prepared to travel solo and spend the day on my own. Not sure it is worth the journey down from Blackpool though.

I don't get to choose whether I want to go or not....

I'm there with work seeing as we've got two stands this year Shocked

I've always had a good craic there in previous years though so I'm hoping I get chance to go and drool over bikes and pick up a few bargains Wink

I stopped going about 2 years ago, it seems to get worse every year, I'd prefer to just go to DK in stoke for free, ogle their bikes for free then wander down the road and spend my £50 on a whore.

£50? How many times are you going in and out of the show then? Didn't think it cost that much!

Ticket price is something like £20?

Take in to account fuel, food, drinks etc and you're easily spending £50.

I went to the 06 and it was a fantastic day, went with family and we all had good laugh and good time, a lot to see and a lot of women.

I then went to the 07 by myself and met a few mates up there. It was crap last year, very few women, even less bikes and a lot less happening and to do. It was if their budget was cut in half. I'm not going to go this year as i doubt it will be very different, but if you haven't been to one before then it might be worth a visit, or wait for the excel one in march. Who knows, last year may have just been a one off, this years could be good.

I'm probably going to go just for the experience. Never been to a bike show, so even if it sucks I won't know. Laughing

Getting there is a no-brainer for me - I'm <2 miles from Reading station, so it's a few stops on a pendolino and jump off at the NEC station. Thumbs Up

Think I've just arranged a family day out to the NEC.
Me and the lad go to the motorbike show and the better half (SWMBO) and the lass go the the Clothes Show Live as both coincide on the last weekend (6/7 December).

Trouble is the lass may want to take in the bike show as well Shocked

I loved it in '06, every conceiveable bike, and many properly fit birds not shy of the odd cameltoe Wink

Might go this year, but it's a long, slow ride on the DR, and the Frontera will cost a fortune to get down there from Warrington. Plus you pay for parking in a car. Bikes are rightly free. Saying that, so cars should be as well the robbing gits!
