I got my test tomorrow too! What times yours? I'm nervous too. Funny really, I'm more nervous about the word 'test' than having an accident. Stupid really! Rolling Eyes Good luck!

Talk to yourself in your lid. Calms you down and no-one's gonna hear it. Stuff like the speed limit you're in, or talking through the steps in a manouvre, or even just 'ok, stay calm, you know how to do this' etc etc.

dont be rushed, when doing the u-turn compose yourself and then start. take a couple of deep breaths.
If you do mess up one of the manoevres then ask for another go. Nothing to lose, and if there is time and your ride has been good they may let you. Doesnt hurt to ask

Ride for yourself, forget there is someone following you.

plenty of mirror checks, shoulder checks when changing lane position or joining a new road
make sure indicators are cancelled, obsessive is best way with this, press the cancel button a good few times

Turn up for your test plenty early. being on the last minute adds stress, being an hour early is better than being 2 mins late.
have all your documents ready to show the examiner so you arent fumbling when asked for them. You may be expected too keep your documents with you during the test, so have somewhere to put them. If you are going with your instructor he may take them for you. Smile and be polite when asked questions. It costs nothing and gives a good impression.

During the radio test make sure it is clear, and listen to what he / she says, if it isnt covered then ask what to do if you dont hear something the first time (normally just tap your helmet where your ear is, but always besy to clarify), or it goes dead during the ride.

if using your own bike make sure you have the documents required and that it is road legal including tax disc on display.

if in doubt, take it. best to have it and not use it than lose your test fee cos you needed something u didnt take

Good luck and have fun.

That's a good thing. Generally if you're scared out of your wits about having an accident it will detract from your riding.

put it this way, when i took my test i was lucky enough to have a ''major'' that the examiner didnt notice...

the car in front braked hard to a stop on a slip road as i was doing my lifesaver (que me swerving, narrowly missing the car) the examiner must have been doing the same.

anyway...

spent the rest of the ride like ''FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKK''

which helped because i wasnt nervous, just convinced that id failed so just rode normally.

passed.

the end.

Theory's easy, put your feet up Thumbs Up .

You'll have plenty of time so go through the 50 answers again as if you've seen them for the first time, you may spot a mistake, it's time better spent than leaving early. Hazard awareness isn't as hard as it first appears, click like a loony, but not in a pattern, on one of the hazards I had 12 clicks and there was only one hazard Mr. Green .

Im a failure!!!!its really annoying the way i f*&ked up too. i was worried about the manoeuvres but did all them fine. i was on my way back to the test centre thinking yes ive passed and then 2nd from last turning before you get back to the centre i pull out in front of a speeding white van. fucking white van man!!!! he was half way up the road when i looked so i pulled out and he was up my arse before i knew it. i know its still my fault coz i should have realised he was doing at least 50 in a 30. i would have rather failed on a u turn or sumin. im pig sick. its guna cost a stack more cash before i pass now Crying or Very sad hope everybody else had more look than me today. Sick

it's always silly mistakes, but you'll live, once you get the £80 to resit.

Hold it together, its not the end of the world, unfortunately on the test these kind of things do fail you but take a bit of comfort in the fact your riding is good enough to pass. Different story if you had racked up loads of minors on top.

The odd mistake on the test that leads to a fail is just life, yup its a bummer but as I say Hold it together, regroup and get prepared the next time.

Well done both, you gave it all you could Thumbs Up

Yeah, keep your chin up, u'll get it next time

Remember - hesitency is a minor, causing a vehicle to slow down or swerve is a fail.
bit late now, but worth noting

yeah , thats a very good point. i hadnt thought about that before the test. my instructor is always banging on about making progress and in this instance that mentality bollocksed it all up for me. not making excuses tho, it was my own stupid fault! i was just looking forward to going out tonight and celebrating. now im not going anywhere. Sad

it is easily done

at least it was only that one thing, like was said a sheet full of errors is more concerning than a single mistake.

I failed my advanced driving test the first time for not stopping at lights that had just changed. That was annoying.
passed second time no problems. and that test was £100 a pop Smile

all a learning experience

its certainly a learning experience. i have to wait three weeks for my retest and i will prob have to have another lesson in between so i dont forget how a big bike feels. i dont feel right on my 125 now. its guna cost me another £200 quid altogether by the time ive added up cost for hiring bike and test etc. it was an expensive mistake .oh well, roll on 31st october and then maybe ill get lucky Smile

dont beat yourself up over it. i've failed the das twice now, and ive given up on it for the timebeing, although now they've extended the end date for the old test i might have another crack at it. fortunately ive got my a2 to fall back on. i see it like a bit of a lottery, so many factors can come into play on the day which you have no contrrol over - weather, unusual traffic, white van men etc and one little innocent mistake and its game over. i dont believe the test has any direct relation to a persons riding ability, its purely luck of the draw whether you pass or not on the day - if you want it badly enough you'll just have to keep shelling out to dsa until you do.
