Hoping for some input from those who may have borked their foot at some point. Or just a general laugh at BCF diagnosis.

Took a tumble off the lorry today, whilst unloading some hay. Managed to sort myself out on the way down pretty much, but didn't quite get my foot squared away and twatted it on the bed of the truck on my way to the floor.

Finished the day no real issues, and rode home, and since resting it, its hurting more and i'm hobbling around like a cripple.

Likely to be serious? Anyone had similar things?

May wander down the hospital at some point over the weekend, but not on a Fri evening.

If it's started to be a problem after rest then it's probably deep bruising and or soft tissue damage rearing their ugly heads. If a bone goes then you will usually have a good idea there and then, not neccessarily crippling pain (depends on the break and which bone) but it's an obvious sensation for most people.

When I broke my foot many years ago ( running went over on a kerb ) went to hospital next morning where they X-rayed it and found out it was broken then but didnt have much pain tbh or didnt notice the pain

It may just be bruising or sprained but I would go to hospital to have it checked

Did you report it when you got back to base and was it logged in the accident book even if only to cover your back if need some time off on the sick with it

My partner in crime was with me when it happened, and told the boss when I got back just so he was aware.

Will put it in the accident book next week (if we even have one Razz )

Broke a small bone in my foot, was pretty swollen and I wasn't able to walk on it. Managed to ride the bike home changing the gear with my heel but had to hop into the house. Didn't think it was broken though, just put it up and thought it would go away. Next morning it was worse and went to hospital.

When I broke thumb, I got an instance red hot/throbbing sensation which lasted for about 4 hours. Any movement, even wind blowing it 1mm sideways made it painful./throb. Yet when I broke both my scaphoids I didn't notice, no obvious signs of injury but I put that down to shock and adrenaline. Next couple of days were the big giver-aways. My god do broken bones hurt a day or so later. Crying or Very sad Shocked

You'll know if it is.... Wink

when I had my off, I remember trying to stand up, and falling over. Then I tried to stand again, and fell over. I tried a third time to stand, fell over and decided that it wasn't going to happen. Turns out I had broken my tib and fib. It wasn't sore, but I had a gristly feeling, like my boot was full of gravel, turns out that was the feeling of broken bones scraping off each other lol.

Broken metatarsal may go misdiagnosed as bruises unless x-ray-ed, so go to the neared place capable of performing an x-ray to make sure. It's the only real way.

When I broke my left foot (4 metatarsals in 9 places) I couldn't tell because my ankle had got squashed as well. It wasn't broken but it hurt a lot more than my foot, so much so that I actually thought I'd broken my ankle not my foot. Confused

Definitely get yourself down to A&E; known a couple of people (one was Dusty) to break their hand and insist they're fine.

I'm slightly worried about my shoulder (carried for a few days with the other one broken)... but it hardly hurts, even compared to other one that wasn't that bad, so doubt it is.

Remember to take a book and expect that you may not be allowed to drive your vehicle home (though you could just not tell anyone Wink ). Gimme a shout if you need a hand with anything - I'm just doing general 'sorting' stuff today.
