Well the inevitable has happened, i've come off my beloved gt650.
It happened today on the way to Wragby from louth. I was out with my dad and he was in front, but the wierd thing is we both have different views on what happed so here goes.

Me

I was slowing down very early for a corner as the previous one was a bit wet and a bit slippery, so at a bout 25 - 30 i tip it in and for some reason it just stood back up about 10foot from the side so with me knowing that the bike was up i gave it a fist full of front brake hoping to stop just before the ditch and then have shits and giggles with me dad about it, but before i knew it i was on the grass/mud and then in the ditch with the bike on my foot making it face backwards. So I looked down the road to see my dad still riding and thinking to myself i really hope hes seen, then what felt like ages he turned around and and run up to me but all i can remember is him saying "O my god what have i done" and somehow managed to lift my bike with one hand a pull me foot out with the other, bear in mind that it was under the back seat so was very heavy, then he and another biker that had stopped (thankyou if your reading this btw) pulled my bike out of the ditch and put it in the courtyard that was behind it. Then i was thrown on the back of my dads bike and taken to louth hospital.

Dads.

Looked in my mirror and say me slowing down well before the corner, looked back in front then in my mirror again and saw mark (me) turning into the corner then the bike throwing itself in with mark trying to pull it down, and then the back end picking up and turning sideways at what looked like walking speed, i slowed down expecting him to just jump up and pick it up but he didn't so i turned around and found him stuck under by his foot. After taking him to the hospital in louth, i got my daughter (lynsey) to drive me back to where marks bike was left, and proceeded ride it home, going through Teelby a woman stepped out so as you do i pulled the front brake and at nearly threw me over the front, the suspension is a total mess i'm just surprised that this didnt happen earlier, the suspension is to hard the rebound to hard and the anti dive to hard, it's all been turned up.

So on to the injuries, ive got a hole in my ankle with a strip of skin missing coming up my leg and alot of swelling.

you were lucky by the sounds of things. broken ankles are like knees... once fucked up, not quite the same.

Yes indeed, i will. I just though that, that was how it should be and adapted to it, but it always did handle better with the missus on the back, i just wish that she ws so i could have slung her under the fairing to protect it lol. And i still have an inkling that it is, the nurse told me to start walking on it (i think) but tonight after a few cocodeamol i tried to put it on the floor and nearly put my fist through a wall. But if its any consolation to you mat there is a loverly bit of my ankle bone showing where the skin is totally missing. I could see it sort of moving it you get what i mean.

Well since it's morning/afternoon now i may have to drag it out and have a look, i down think its too bad or my dad wouldn't have riden it.

Also a question to anyone who has ever had a similar situation to me, why is me dad blaming himself?

He just keps on saying ng that we were going to fast and he should have slowed down even though we were riding at different styles. Anyone care to explain?

He obviously feels like he was pushing you to his limits, which arnt the same as im guessing hes been riding a bit longer than you.

Ok so my dad and a few other people that i know have said that yesterdays mishap could have ben due to the tyres so anybody have any thoughts on BATLAX tyres?

learn from it.

ive managed to lowside a lifan on a roundabout. my own fault.

same when leaving a carpark once, back end slipped out on gravel in the wet, smashing the bike into a kerb nicely. also my own fault.

i suppose you learn to read situations the more it happens.

Well went to the doc's this morning to have the dressing changed on my ankle, the nursaskedkd me to do some random stuff to see what i could do with my ankle. Then asked me what i'd done. She then proceeded to tell me that my tendon had been ripped across my foot when it got twisted and i'm lucky that it didn't shoot through the front and that i'm one of the few cases where i've been extremely lucky that it has not. That kind of shocked me. SO now i'm left with a bruise going down from my calf, down the right side of my ankle and down the side of my foot.
