Hi all,
Basically my fridge is broken (doesn't cool the food anymore) and I want to try and fix it, any common faults with them in general? It is something I could do myself?
I can find out the exact model if necessary.

But if you DO buy one: make sure it doesn't have a slightly convex top.
And if you do ... make sure you don't put small bottles of red wine on top of that slightly convex top.
And if you DO put the bottles on top of your slightly convex fridge-top ... make sure your cat/s are not standing by the fridge eating their dinner when the small bottles of red wine decide to slide off the slightly convex top when you close the fridge door.
I've broken two bottles of wine lately, and Mingles is getting quite paranoid about the whole eating-his-dinner-beside-the-fridge thing ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

It was more of an exercise of educating myself rather than a pratice of necessity.
It is 15yrs old now! lol. I'll give the fuse a go tomorrow.

Normally the thermostat fails, if you are technically minded just remove it and join the two wires and see what happens.( or better still use a multimeter on continuity) other things that fail are the compressor starter relay ( the thing on the black pot at the back of the fridge) some are mechanical and look like a witches hat others are solid state and as such exchange is the only way (solid state can be used on all fridges)the other thing is the thermal overload ( a small round thing wired into starter relay about half inch in diameter) if these burn out then you might as well dump it as the chances are the compressor itself has siezed or burnt out. ____________________ Cover me in tuna and throw me to the lesbians. |

Bury it in the garden in a shady spot, on its back with the door accessible. Then when the electricity goes, you'll have somewhere to keep beer cool. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.
