I came out to my bike at home time one day last week, and some joker had parked too close to me in my opinion.

The scene is, its the work car park, there are usually only me and 3 or 4 other bikes there most days, but as it was a particularly nice day all the fair weather f@nnies were in (bout 9 bikes), and seeing as how I can't seem to roll my a$$ out of bed before nine, I got the very last bit of the ground for the bikes to park in.

You can probably see on the ground, the van was within the yellow line for the marked space, but still... there was nothing in front of him. There was simply no need for it, is what annoyed me.

Am I being annoyed for the sake of being annoyed, or would you be too?

Here is a skilled paint drawing Laughing

I'm the yellow bit on the diagram right at the end of the bike bay (which is unmarked in reality).

It does make me wonder, but I don't see the point in asking yourself 'what ifs'. The van driver didn't hit your bike, and that's the end of that as far as I'm concerned Wink
It's certainly less annoying than some twat in front of you washing their windscreen.

Watched an old MR2 parallel parking next to my bike the other day, managed to skillfully park it with his bumper about 1.5 inches away from my exhaust, I know how you feel, it is a bit annoying and seems to imply a lack of respect. Was especially annoying in my case as I couldnt actually lean the bike up to verticle, or even high enough to get the stand up without touching his car, if my exhaust was hot it would of made a mark on both my can and his bumper, plus I dont like pushing the bike up hills.

I'm surprised by the responses, that annoyed me the rest of that night, maybe I am just more protective of my bike...

Matt ...bitch? now was that really necessary?
Are you specifically trying to hurt my feelings or is it just another of those basic lets try and demean someone whilst appearing cool on an internet forum post? Laughing

You're not very good at it, stick to things you know you can pull off, like flipping bikes, I heard you were good at that Wink

Don't see the problem if they leave enough space for you to get out.
Otherwise, the way I see it, it's like car drivers getting annoyed because you're filtering close to their car.

If it does knock your bike, then that's another matter; and it'd of course annoy me if I couldn't get my bike off the stand.

fukin hell man try living in london.

i have to park or others park that close everyday.

my bike has been dropped twice by two completely blind fucks. i nearly beat a pensioner over the first incident with a baseball bat because he refused that he done it even with witnesses and also didn't want to give his insurance. my bike was really new and i was about 19 then so i was a very angry young man.

the second was my shop neighbour. female

the funny thing is, they now get glasses from where i work which is an opticians.

i had a few scratches but because i binned my bike before, the fairing was fucked anyway so i didnt get that annoyed when the lady did it,.

U parked, he parked, where is the problem

For all you know the driver could have had a passenger who got out and guided them in, or they just know how long their van is.

If you dont like people parking close to you bike get up earlier and park it further down the line Smile

I'm glad I don't live in London by the sounds of it Shocked

Nah, I'm just spoilt as I have a big safe space to sit in 300 days of the year. I think I've parked my bike in one of those city centre motorcycle bays three times, and I was having heart palpatations the entire time I was away from it Laughing

As for getting up earlier, easier said than done Razz

I'm, half and half on this. He's not so close as to stop moving the bike, though I can imagine it was a little difficult mounting the bike if you mount from the right hand side like me.

Really my issue is whether he managed to park that all on his own. Even if he had someone backing him in - there wasn't much room for error. If he did it on his own he was guessing at best which is a dangerous game to play with someone's pride and joy.

I just see it as a lack of respect.

That said, nothing bad happened - this time... Confused

They could have had a reversing camera, or could have just been very good at judging distances as they'd been doing it for fifty hours a week for the last twenty years.

I would not be pissed off mate, that's normal IMO.

I parked like that at uni the other day next to another bike but it was even further apart. He could even swing his leg over and pull away fine but he left me a note:

"Next time use your brain and dont block people in"

I was like wtf, noob Laughing

Looks like you had plenty of room mate, just your probs not used to it? Don't park in London lol, went up there the other day and saw this:

^^^ That's mental Laughing

I can see why it would annoy you, it annoys me and I tense up when people are parking near it. I'm just thinking "Have they seen it?"

But he didn't hit it so I wouldn't be too worried.
