Ok so yesterday whilst the missus was at college doing A level chemistry, doing nuclear atoms or something (I'm not that bright) her teacher said to her that the protons collide with the atoms much the same as a car collides with a motorbike and smashes it to pieces.

Ok so you maybe be thinking thats not that harsh but please bear in mind that last year she lost the closest person to a dad that she has ever had, in a bike crash with a car, and me on sunday with a hedge. So she got a bit upset and he told her that if people are stupid and idiotic enough to ride bikes then they deserve to die. I mean seriously, you can't say that to someone who has had that happen to them.

I ant to go in just to have a quiet word with him , about this and try to retrieve and apology from him about his sexist comments aswell to her and other female classmates.

The sexist comment was that my missus would have to get small and tight lab coat so that all the lads could see her tits, and so would all the other lasses, he reasoning for this was that lass are not meant to be in a lab because the lab was meant for men. When her defensive friend heard this he politely return in her defense well this country is meant for the english not you, so consquinetly he is no longer in college.

A formal complaint about the guy is needed. You need to lay it out in points with examples and the affect each example had on you and your class mates.
Don't put a conclusion on what you think should be the end result should be but that you believe some form of formal action should be taken.

Sounds like he's a twat to me, but then again lots of academics* are, that's why they're in academia because they have no ability to cope with/concept of the real world. Whilst your missus may be hurt by his comments, as others have pointed out they were clearly made out of ignorance and as such should be treated with the contempt they deserve.

Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion and possibly warped sense of humour those who profess to be professional shouldn't impose those onto others. There's also the concern that the attitude shown could affect the exam/coursework prospects.

Well, as for getting wound up about the first bit regarding protons smashing into atoms much like a car smashing into a motorbike (which I think he’s wrong about chemistry wise anyway), I’d say there really was no need to cause a kafuffle, since its only a bloody analogy, maybe he could have said like a crane ball smashing into a wall, and then somebody might have piped up with “My uncle was killed by a crane ball smashing into him, you insensitive bastard!!!”. Indeed, if a car goes into a motorbike at speed, im sure the motorbike will come more of a cropper, and therefore the analogy was correct. The guys not psychic and im sure the enrolment process even these days doesn’t ask for everybodys life story such that every single lecturer can tread on egg shells so as not to upset a single person.

That said, with regards to the sexist comment and that bikers deserve to die, then yeah, guys a tosser, needs to be fired, and why not, given a sound flogging as well.

Nope i'm only sensitive when it comes to subjects like that with her, the bloke who died, was called bruce and i'm guessing that a few of you on here would have known him, he was killed last year on his harley, and used to be between Louth and Amersham area. It was in july/aug so anyone who knew him will also have herd about my missus at some point.

He was the closest person to a real dad that she ever had and the slightest mention of him sends her in to floods of tears, and that is why im so sensitive about this subject, she goes there to learn not to be brought down by sexist remarks and anti-biker comments.
