Hello All

Finally getting my bike after weeks of looking and deciding between CBR125 and RS125 and gone for the RS. All seems good with the seller so hopefully getting it within a week.

Anyway, I was wondering about some good security for the bike which will also be one to help on insurance. I will be using it to go college but that has parking so I was gona get a disc lock for when its parked up there, but then for at home probably looking for a chain, not too sure if I can get it into the back garden yet for overnight.

Suggestions and recommendations would be great Smile

I fancy one of these chains, but how do you transport them?

Here is what NOT to do...

I've got a disc lock, a heft one at that, I also have a 1997 GSXR SRAD with the seat hump, and underneath it some storage where I keep the disk lock.

Now, remember kiddies, when stripping the rear end of your bike to prep it for winter and disperse any rust, when putting it back together, remember and do up the cable that allows you to open the seat hump with the key, and not do what i've done and leave it off, with your hefty disk lock, locked inside.

Could you not get a chain for home and another for college? Just leave it locked round the post or whatever you'll lock it to there. Thumbs Up

for home security in the garage/alarmed ground anchored to the floor,at work if the car park has cameras and is manned you
should be fine if not,just chain it to some thing like a post ect,and buy a decent chain,a good one will set you back between
£50-£100,yep there not cheap,but how much do you value your bike.... Wink

What about if you don't really have anywhere to put a ground anchor at your home? Just curious. As for me, when i get a 125bike, its going to be in the front garden of our house, but there's nothing for one to chain it to etc. Just grass, and tiles near to the door.

Your house has a wall. Get a Hardie Ground Anchor or similar and bolt it to the centre of the wall a few feet off the deck. I wouldn't use a garden wall as if its small they'll just kick it down. A house external wall should do the job.

Dig a big hole, fill with rubble then, concrete a ground anchor in!!

hmm, my walls abit iffy, for me, the front wall is made of concrete and stones.. So could possibly lock it to that? Though its a low wall (about 80cm tall) so if it was locked up to it, it could be visible to passers by. I'll give it some thought nearer to the time. Mr. Green

If the house walls are out +1 to the dig a big hole (2 x 2 x 2 foot maybe), fill it with old bricks and rubble and some DIY concrete and bury your ground anchor in that. Really shit area? Two ground anchors and alarm the bike. No good? An assault rifle... Razz

I keep a big ass bike lock in town and pair that with a disc lock.

At home the bike goes directly into the garage behind a couple of locks.

My CG went from out the front in the space of a couple of hours the one time I didn't lock it to the trike.

I had loads of vandalism on both the trike and the CG when they were parked out the front - so much so that when my G/F suggested buying a house I said fine as long as it has a garage.

While were living in the terraced house I used to keep the bike in the side passage down the side of the house. I was fortunate that my neighbour liked to keep all sorts of crap in there at the other end.
