So bought new Shoei Raid II today (Matt Black), can not begin to tell you what a difference between it and my old Vemar I bought to do my DAS 15 months ago. Light, fits really well and very quiet. Very happy and impressed.

But what impresses me the most is how much I can see! the visor is new so crystal clear and it has a pinlock, BIG wow!

So two questions please; How do I keep the outside clean and scratch free? Up til now used Pledge and a rag, which over the year has tarnished my old visor.

And any tips on pinlock maintenance? Cleaning and upkeep etc. I like to ride with the visor up round town, will this get sh1t on the inside?

Ta.

I use water and a duster on mine. A microfibre cloth is worth using too.

I never use anything stronger than water on my visor though. It's still crystal clear for me.

If the outside of the visor isn't coated, and I suspect it's not, then something like Wurth helmet & visor cleaner will get the heavy crap off. On a daily basis I just use clean cold water and a clean dish cloth to keep on top off the flies and stuff. I use Rain-x wipes to help with rain funnily enough. The pinlock shouldn't need any maintenance or care other than to be rinsed occasionally once again with cold clean water. Dab it with a piece of kitchen roll to get the worst of the water off and leave it to dry thoroughly before you re-assemble it.

Pinlock FTW as they say Thumbs Up

Wet kitchen towel left on visor for 5 min's then wipe visor with it and buff with dry duster.

Either warm soapy water washed over visor / helmet with a soft clean cloth (e.g. cheesecloth) and then dried with a soft bath towel or use Windolene and then wipe off with a soft clean cloth - seems to work well.

I use LCD screen cleaner, it's designed for plastic and doesn't contain isopropyl which cracks plastic, then just use a clean cloth, comes up absolutely crystal clear. Only costs a couple pound but lasts for ages.

Has no one mentioned baby wipes? Seem to work for me and can be very useful for a fair few other things (leathers etc). As long as you can stand the smell you can't go far wrong! Thumbs Up

Those KFC wipes in packets are quite handy for when your out and about (just nick a handful when you go). Otherwise I just use hot water and kitchen towels.
