Hello guys!

I just bought my AGV K2 helmet a AGV Street 5 Black visor. It says only for daytime use on the front on it, but I know it isn't road legal in the UK.

I got it because the clear visor in sunny days was hazardous as I end up squiting alot and moving my head up and down to get the sunlight out of my eyes.

What are the chances of getin points/penalty using the black visor on sunny days (i will be carrying my clear one for night use)

If your riding sensibly and the officer is in a good mood then he will prob just let you off as they do understand sun glare is a problem when its really bright.

If your on the back wheel down the high street then they will do you for anything they can however Wink

You don't get points for a dark visor.

I got pulled for having a tinted visor while it was dark even thought i had it up as i wasn't using it.

Police officer: Did you know that you are not allowed to have a black visor while its dark

Me: Yes, sorry sir, give me one minute

Me: *Takes his black visor off and puts it in the bag, gets the clear visor out and puts it on the helmet*

Me: Sorted, can i go now?

Pollice Officer: (He was like wtf) Yes you are free to go, but i don't want to see this again

Me: Thank you sir

How do you know it is not road legal? - just interested in the markings. If it says daytime use only then it should be okay until lighting up time.

I bought a Shoei visor recently which was declared road legal on the Racevisors website - it is light tint and says "if tinted, for daytime use only" on the vsior.

The other day I saw a medium tint shoei visor with exactly the same writing, yet it is not declared as road legal by Racevisors.

I also bought a dark tint Pinlock thinking that any insert would be okay but it had "TRACK USE ONLY" stamped on it which was clearly visbile through the visor - clearly a no no on the road and asking for trouble in the event of an accident.

I bought a road legal 50% visor for my shoei xr1000 it's also stamped 'for daytime use only'.

It really depends on the level of tint, is it a light or dark tint take a look here:

https://www.racevisors.co.uk/category/genuine-visors-agv-gt

I'd guess given the markings it'd be classed as light.

I got some clarification on the road legal business this afternoon.

For a vior to be raod legal is should have a Eoro or BS stamp on the right hand side looking from the front.

The light tint Shoei visor I bought from Racevisors is made in the USA and does not have the Euro stamp. I saw one is a shop which was made in Japan and did have the Euro stamp.

The wriiting on the left side was the same except for the "Made in...." bit.

Darker visors i.e medium and dark did not have the stamp and so would not be road legal.

Bottom line is the light tint visor from Racevisors is not actually legal for the UK - it has an acceptable tint but no stamp. I'll be calling them on Monday.

Amen to that mate, on M5 other day on my way to Exeter got pulled doing silly speeds other day on motorway saw the police bike come out in front of a lorry in the slow lane about few yards down the way, hit the brakes hard but safely litrally ended up side by side him in middle lane me in fast lane, pulled me.

"That was a bit silly wasn't it"
Me: Certainly was sir, sorry.
"I was doing 80 and you came up behind me like no tomorrow. which is incidently what will be left of you if you come of at those speeds in those trousers" (as I didn't have the bike trousers on just office suit trousers since bike ones were drying from the day before)
"Ok, get some gear and get on your way."

Thumbs Up

All I want is a graded tint to about a third of the way down (even just a stick on the outside strip) so I can ditch the shades. Can I find one? Can I feck.

May end up going to Halfords and butchering a car one.

i wear a dark visor all the time, day and night, the only time i swap to my clear visor is when its raining as it makes it harder to see and when i know there wont be any streetlights on high speed roads.

if its dark and u cant see, just lift the visor, its not hard.
