Last winter I went naked on my ER5. At its coldest I had wiese winter gloves and liner gloves too. On long rides my fingers suffered.

This winter on my Versys I have fitted hand guards and am still on summer gloves with no problems. In fact last week on the hot day my hands were almost to warm.

Guards v heated grips: guards won't break down, drain your battery, cost less to buy and are easier to fit (and then you can forget them).

Guards ftw.

(or you can fit muffs and have everyone feel sorry for you)

brush guards on my bmw and on my old xr650r did,nt stop the wind that much, heated grips or bar muffs are far better plus bar muffs keep your gloves dry.

Brush guards don't offer a vast degree of protection. Heated grips alone should suffice, but if you have brush guards as well as heated grips then it can only help to keep a bit more wind off.

It's a question of whether you think the cost of the guards are worth it after paying out for heated grips. They will make some difference, and personally, I would fit both if I had the cash lying about. Thumbs Up
