whats the difference between mesh pants and textile jeans?

Mesh pants are still "textile" (as opposed to leather), however they are heavily vented to keep you cool in warm conditions. If you live in the UK and want new pants to use before next May, don't bother with these ones!

No they're not waterproof, mesh means they are full of holes!

They are designed for riding in hot weather to let the windflow cool you whilst still maintaining some element of protection (the armour).

I have a mesh jacket and it's great on hot days but even though mine comes with a seperate waterproof overjacket I don't tend to wear it if it's not hot and sunny. I've worn it twice this year. Sad
