The zip has come off my bike boots, and appears to be bent. Where can I get it fixed cheaply (a few quid)? Will shoesmiths do that sort of thing? Cheers.

My boot has had a cable tie instead of a zip for the last decade or so. Might get around to having it fixed one day.

It's actually not a huge problem as it's quite a snug fit without the zip, and I roll my jeans down over them which holds them closed, but obviously I don't want it coming off in the event of an accident...

Use some strong velcro.

I've replaced zips for this and is strong.

You can stick it or even sew it. Thumbs Up

It probably isn't worth getting them fixed, it'd cost a bit of money for the effort I would guess (unless you lived in Thailand, or Vietnam that is).

I would personally buy a length of velcro and fix it place (it would be quite an easy fix with superglue), or even use laces to strap around the boot if worried that much.

take it into a shoesmiths shop and see what they say

They will either say no, or give you a price. Smile

im with him but if they are the alpinestar smx+ boots forget it.
no one will fix them due to the plastics over the zip and they have to be returned to italy to be mended. about 4 - 6 weeks without boots then Confused

I have just taken my Daytona Ladystars to have the zip mended to a guy in Wolverhampton (says he is the SIDI etc main bloke).

FIrst it cost me £60 for both boots to have a bit more velcro put in to give me more room as the zip strained in a certain place. This didnt work and the zip then bust. Costing me £30 more to have the zips changed.

£90 Sad only doing it becuase they are a £260 boot. I wouldn't bother, if you can find an alternative way (velcro) I would go with that !!

On a zip-repairing note, anyone know where I can go to get my zip fixed on my leathers? It works fine regarding the "zip" but the metal bit at the bottom of the non-zip side has come off, meaning it's a) difficult to get on and b) comes undone from the bottom if the velcro strap on my waist isn't done up tight. Not really sure where I can take them.

Have you tried retailers that sell leathers local to yourself? Many will do alterations and repairs like that as when they sell them they offer amendment services, worth a try?
