Well I though I would start my little project. This is my bike https://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab100/theoutsider511/BbULEDQ2kKGrHgoH-CEEjlLl0usBKvew3Le.jpg
I bought it of ebay fairly cheap, without tax and MOT. The bike has been modified a little bit,it has NC35 front faring, and I think the sides are from NC35 aswell,ART 2 Slip-on exhaust,it came with the 33 bhp washers, single seat cowl with blue seat, aftermarket led tail light,Mirrors with indicators built in.It has around 40 k Km which is about 26 k miles. When I bought it it ran superb,I`ve put the washers in it ran like shit, took the washers off the carbs it didn`t ran at all.Cleaned the plugs it started but it runs a bit weird and it backfires if I accelerate a bit hard.
Now the things I don`t like about the bike. The back end is the ugliest fucking thing I ever seen on a bike. The seat has been stuck with glue onto the frame, well actually : Seat,Wood,Subframe.
The bike looks wicked but the back end lets it down.
I`ve looked at tyga or k-conversion and they are way to expensive. After I`ve looked at 400 grey bikes forum I`ve seen somebody that changed all the farings to a cbr 600 rr.This thing gave me a idea, why do I have to buy tyga when I can do my own?so I voted for the r1 5jj back end.Now a bit of photoshop and it came with 2 versions
1. https://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab100/theoutsider511/hondar12.jpg
2. https://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab100/theoutsider511/hondar1comb.jpg
I`ve bought the seat cowl today, hopefuly i`ll get seats soon.
Now what I need is to modify the existing exhaust bracket,as I have to raise the subframe. From monday I will start to take proper pictures of the bike and how the project goes. And hopefuly monday the seat unit is in.
So anyway I`ve got a lot of time as I can`t ride the bike as I need to do my mod 2.Thanks |

Right a small update. The seat cowl came in today. Now I see that there is no way I will join the r1 back end with the nc30 seat unit(like in picture number 2).
I`ve put the subframe in it`s original position as it was a bit to high.I have moved the water bottle near the clocks as there is no way I will fit that under the seat. Was looking if I can put the wiring loom under the tank but there is not enough space.
I`ve bought sunday the tail tidy for the r1 back end including the lights so that will give me a rough idea if I have to raise the subframe or not.The seat unit will bolt perfect onto the subframe top bolts.
Now I don`t know what I should do with the seat. From the pictures the r1 seat looks a bit long, and I don`t want to move the seat cowl back as it will look ugly. Also i`m worried about the width of the seat. The nc30 seat looks like it fits but it don`t look great.
Well, after I moved all the wiring loom roughly in the position where it will be, I`ll have to cut the front rear seat bracket from the subframe as the seat cowl won`t stay down.I think there is enough room for the brake reservoir.
I have to think to a seat mount (after I get the seat) as the nc30 seat was bolted to the frame.I`m planning in chopping a bit of the old undertray(the battery box bit) so the r1 tail tidy thing will join the nc30 undertray.
Next plan is to get a alarm, get paint, primer, laquer. Also I`ll paint the seat cowl in the british racing green.I`ll provide pictures in few minutes as my internet is slow and it takes ages.
Any good ideas are welcome |

Thats pretty impressive, look forward to seeing the end result, looks like its really going to suit the bike. I would suggest sticking with the blue and yellow theme, it looks right |

Have to say, I'm not taken with it right now, maybe you could spray it yellow to match the rest of the bike, then maybe it will fit in a bit better. Good luck with it though mate ____________________ '84 TS50X, '91 TZR125, '89 CBR400RR, '91 VFR400R NC30, '98 R1
