looking for a new bike so i got a loan quote which is only valid for 14days Sad

anyway i went to view the bike i wanted but its a little out of my budget, if i don't take the loan the loan expires.

what will happen if i keep re-applying? i presume having a large number of searches on my credit file wont be good.

A lot of searches for loans/cc can be a bad thing.
If you went back to the same bank, there is a chance they may not do another search if you reapply for another loan and explain why you did not take up the previous agreed loan, but you would have to be within a couple of months i think.

if you definatly want a bike, get the loan and put it in the bank!

Also stop looking at bikes out of your price range, you'll be forced to ask the bank for more money Wink

Hi

Previous searches are stored, but not all loan applications will trigger a search. Too many searches will make your loan application less likely to be successful. Far too many might trigger a suspected fraud incident.

All the best

How long does it take for the searches to not be accounted for?

I applied for a loan (some £9k) and said i could have it if it wasnt for the search "footprints" on my name. She said wait a while before re-applying but i dont know how long that was!

I will be needing a loan within the month to start up a small buisness with my partner and hope that the 3/4/5 however months its been is long enough!

Hi

Long time since I worked on credit reference systems, but from memory it is 6 months for previous searches.

All the best

Can work out better to get a credit card then just keep on transferring it for the 0% interest period rather than getting a loan. Called being a 'card tart'.

I thought it was 6 years, but I may be wrong and Kickstart most likely right! Laughing

Hi

Searches are only counted for a short while. Catch out people who have applied for loads of loans at once, but which yet haven't even had their first payment to appear as credit.

Suspect you will be lucky to get a decent length 0% deal on a credit card at the moment.

All the best

Keith

Why not...horror of horrors...save up some money and go without for a little while, and then buy a bike within your price range and pay with your own money??

It gives one an amazing sense of acheivement, and you may even look after the bike that little bit better, knowing that you went without to get what you want.
