i change gear around 6k revs as the power comes in around 7/8k revs
iv been doin this for about a week now, and i just wona see what it has to give at red line! some crazy women in a red beatle overtook me and i just wanted to nock it down a gear and have some fun! not sit there goin
my speedo doesnt work so i dont know how many miles iv put on it, if its around 600miles on a brand new R1... surly i dont have to do 600 mile on a single cylinder 50cc!!!! ____________________ Gilera SC 125 - Current |

good advice
thats all im doing now, i was at Mcdonalds today
i normly go to my friends, but since they live kinda local, only a few mile away... it would take ages, i obvs like to ride around for fun... but there isnt much fun to be had doing slowwww.
I let it slip past 6 once to see what it was like, and since you have had one yourself you will know they feel quick when they go past 7k
i dont wona make a habbit of doing this, but dare i say it.. it was worth it
iv heard alot about fillin it with petrol, and putting it on a high idle.
i might do that to bore it in, what you people thinking?? ____________________ Gilera SC 125 - Current |

no, it needs to have varying load on the new rings to key them to the barrel properly, only way is to ride it.......gently and no wide throttle openings at low revs. ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

it would probably end in tears and another empty wallet, just stick to the proper procedure. its not forever and will pass quicker than you think ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

bike run like shit? |
Yes it can be done. I went from an RS50 to the ZZR600 i have now ... no problems, but you have to be able to take it easy until you learn the differences between the bikes - braking, accelerating, power, clutch, speed, throttle. i hated first gear at first - and it was like riding a pogo stick, i soon found out you cant use the 600's throttle like you do on the little aprilia, and after a while i got used to it - now i can ride in first and i have more control. i've found i can corner at higher speeds on the ZZR than i could before - confidence, more speed anyway, and so on. you have to start slow. the first time i took the 600 out, i went round the seafront (i live on the coast) around a roundabout (first chance to relaly lean the bike over a bit to see how it felt) and up the dual carrigeway (first chance to realllly open it up and then test the brakes) and then another roundabout. perfect sort of route to try ou t the bike with plenty of saftey margin (roundabouts are wide, dual carrigeways long and open) you get the idea. take it easy, understand they are not the same bike and you'll be fine.
cheap ... that depends on your pockets and your perspective. cheap to me might be £100 but to you £500. or a cheap bike to you might be £900 but to me £1500. it depends how you see the value and cost of things.
but, the restriction is likely to cost between £100 and £200's. cheaper if you can get the washers and restrict it yourself though. insurance will depend on many factors, but as said, for me on a ZZR600, 17, 1 year on my licence, road experiance and no claims, bike garaged in a low crime area- i pay (ish) £350 a year for TPF&T. so to me - that's virtually the same as the RS50 was, if not cheaper by about 10 or 20 quid!
easy ... yes, aslong as you rparents arent getting on at you about not doing it and you can trust yourself to take it easy and earn the bike's ways and if your pockets are big enough. i dont think a CBR or an R6 would be very cheap bikes to have so soon - not insurance wise atleast. i'd guess at around the £500 mark minimum.
Just some info and advice from my experiance from the same situation this time last year/early this year.

well... the price of the bike is however much i can sell my tzr, rs and pw for...
im thinking an old R6 around the 1998 mark, mebys more if i could afford it, the insurance for me now is £520 a year tpf&f
in a good area in a locked garage ect..ect..
im not exacly Rich, but at least i have my own income now, which can only be a come thing. chances are im still goign to be gettin an aprilia rs 125 first anyway, just wanted to know if it can really be done
and yes, i will be doing it myself, a few month ago i knew nothing about bikes at all.... now iv rebuilt my engine on my own, and no the bike inside out!
Thanks for your help. ____________________ Gilera SC 125 - Current |

hutchy dont sell your 50s just yet i wana race you when i get me new 1
imo it depends on how much you rate your riding..wether you beleive you should get more experience on a 125 or beleive you can be safe and step up 2 a 600 etc.and lets face it alot of people will just take the restrictors out |

ha, dont worry, im not sellin them just yet
i think if im going from an an rs 50, to an R6... the restrictors are there for my safty
i ride my rs and tzr at full throttle, think that plan will work on an R6 without restrictors lmao! I Think not ____________________ Gilera SC 125 - Current |

let it idle for about 20 mins , let it cool down completley then take in out for a drive with varying revs not going into the redline though , i dont know about rs 50's isit a nicasil bore ? if its iron you dont want to run it in too softly otherwise the barrel will become glazed and youll never be able to get the full power from it
also use non-sinthetic oil to run it in , fully synth or semi-synth actually make the running in period last longer |
