found a rather nice looking er5 on ebay, problem is its in basingstoke (im in southampton) and it hasnt got a restrictor fitted. my plan was to get the train up and ride it back but how much different is 50hp to 33hp? (bearing in mind the most powerful bike i've ridden before is my cbr125)
seller is currently looking for the restrictor and paperwork so i can get it legal as soon as im back.

if your going to risk it maybe keep it at low revs if you feel the power is overwhelming.

Mine's great! But if you've never ridden anything bigger than a 125 your problem could be dealing with the weight rather than the power...

The weight disappears when you're riding, they are only really heavy when you're underneath them Laughing

You'll be fine without the bike restricted. Basingstoke to Southampton is dead easy, just straight down the M3.

The biggest 'risk' I reckon is that you'll get home and realise that you don't need to restrict the bike at all. Razz

all is well but thanks for the advice, saw the cb1 today. looks pretty awesome-o especially for its age. dudes moting it and will get a restrictor fitted at the same time. sure hope it doesn't limit the revs as that thing sounded sweet as...

qq the speedo has had a gear thing changed to convert the needle to mph, does this change the kilometre-age (?!) to mileage?

It'll mean it records in miles from after it was fitted. Whoever fitted it should have made a note of the kms at the time.

Then say it did 10,000kms at the time the converter was fitted, you can read current as 10,950 and know that 950 are miles, convert that difference and you have total mileage.

Beware fitter could have stated an innacurate kms at fitting, so you can't be sure of the true mileage - same as a bike with replacement clocks.

You take the sellers word for how many miles/kms it had done before.
