Having my battery die on me and having to replace it, Ive gone out and bought an optimate.

now, the evening after I buy said optimate I go out on my bike.

It sat in the rain for a couple of hours (not that bad rain but still, rain(with a plastic bag over dials as it has a sort of foamy stuff for a surround))

go to leave and go home, it starts, a bit dodgy but starts.

I get down the road all good, get halfway home and it seems to loose all power, thought I was in too higher gear after going round a rounderbout, kick it down a few and give it some throttle. it is still loosing power and revs in second at about 25 :/

as i come off the rounderbout it dies on me, try starting it for a few mins, get a nice amount of backfires and no starts, push it quite fast UP the road and then hit the button, IT LIVES, so i jump on sharpish and get as far as I can rather quickly (being a 125 it will never be quikly lol).

but it dies again, do the same thing, and it starts again, pull up the road for it to die AGAIN. and this happerns once more before i get it home, and the thing is, it would not go above 5k revs even after I left it to warm up a little while before leaving to go home and the temp dial was out of the blue :/

Oh and before it died the last time it was having this weird throttle problem, where i was prolly on about bit more than half throttle(trying to get it home sharpish), and then it seemed to just close the throttle then open it to where i was holding it a good few times, once as i was going round a corner, and made the back end jump out, Q me stamp on the rear brake for a split second to bring it back then back on the power and full lock to the left and lots of sliding and a bit of fishtailing before it calmed down)

it was left outside WITHOUT a cover last night and the night before (rained heavy the first night not too bad the second), and Im thinking that it might be that, that has caused the problems :/ (has a tarp tied round it now)

but I dont know if its JUST that it was left out in the rain.

I think it might be that I filled it up with some more 2stroke oil (bike had semi in and i filled it with semi) but the two were different colours. in the bike was a blueish green and what i put in it was red :/ I got told down hein gerike that it shouldnt matter and also got told the same by my uncle who has been riding 2 and 4 strokes all his life and is quite knowlagerbl(sp) (they both said as 2 stokes just burn the oil as long as you dont mix semi with fully synth its alright)

But saying that, when I get home from work tomoro I will drain the 2t oil and bleed the pump and put some fresh fully synth in it.

the problem I am having is this, Im not too bothered about getting my hands dirty finding the fault, but I have to use it to get to work tomoro at 11 :s

anyone have any idea's if it was just water getting somewere it shouldnt be, the oil situation, or something more sinicter that will have to go back to the ducati garage under there warranty???

I'd check your fuel lines, tap and carb for blockages or dirt. If the fuel was being partially blocked it will be running leaner which could explain the overheating.

it seems to be an ignition fault . humidity on CDI connectors , Coil terminals . you should change your plug too , then clean all connections especially the black/yellow wire (the one on the coil and on the 4 wires connector on the CDI
