I want a dog!

Today, myself and my brother went to a dog show down in Earl Court...now I really want a dog... only problem is my Dad is nooo where agreeing for me to get one.

I've asked him why but he just says that, he dose not have to give me a reason why?

Get a dog and tell him it'll act as a guard dog when you are out and slippers when you are in. (sitting on feet !)

Well it is your dad's house so ultimately if he doesn't want one there's not a lot you can do about it.

Getting a dog is one of the best things you will ever do. Dad is probably worried that he will end up doing all the hard work, while you and your brother enjoy the nice stuff.

He is probably right, similar memories from my first dog, its not to be undertaken lightly. He pays the mortgage, so his decision goes unfortunately.

If you get your own place, as shaggy says, you can live by your own rules.

at 7 weeks that staff should still be with its mother for another week although there are always exceptions. as for owning a dog its a life time commitment, nothing iratates me more than people who want a dog then soon as the hard work begins, decide to get rid, having a well behaved dog takes time and effort, there are lots of ups and downs and costs involved, but if its what you want its very rewarding, we are currently looking after a friends staffordshire bull terrier for 12 months whilst she goes travelling personlly i could never just up sticks and leave my dogs for 12 months once you have a dog thats it as far as i am concerned you owe it to the dog to look after it not to shunt it from pilar to post, incidently we have 3 of our own stafordshire bull terriers, they are great dogs but are alot of work. think long and hard about what you actually want, do you have any plans to go travelling, uni? etc be honest with yourself, at the end of the day you have to do the right thing by the dog.

I really cannot understand why people want dogs. They take so much looking after, they're noisy and they stink.

Get a cat. Classy, (relatively) maintenace and smell free, much better IMO.

Its an interaction thing, a cat has nothing to offer short of falling asleep on your lap for a bit if the mood takes it. It leads its own life.

Your actions directly affect the life of the dog, for better or worse in some cases unfortunately. It's a pack animal, depends on your approval/interaction depending on where it percieves itself in the food chain. A well trained dog is a joy to have around, wouldn't be without a dog now I don't think.

Hilarity is guaranteed on a daily basis, due to their simple mindedness/stupidity. Definately a lift when you are feeling a bit down.

If you are one who is quite happy in their own company sometimes, like me, then I have found a dog is the ideal compliment to that.

Dogs are inherently stupid and friendly, with an occasional swing into aggression for no particular reason. A bit like drunk chavs.

Cats are inherently clever and non-violent psycopathic (the real sense of the word, not the hollywood version). A bit like accomplished crime lords.

Cats suit me well. Dogs smell and dribble, cats let you know exactly where you stand. You provide food, warmth, and cuddles, but you are ultimately so far beneath them that you can't comprehend your worthlessness. If a cat pisses on your carpet its not because they had an accident, its because they can.

And they smell nice.
