Yes, I came off the bike last weekend.... 10mph, no idea the road was icy, slowed down for a horse, made a slight change in direction... Ended up face down on the road.

I like my jacket.

Only got it the other week in preparation for the cold weather... Nothing ridiculously expensive, but the armour was most definitely a welcome feature - I landed very heavily on my right shoulder, and even though it was pretty damned sore (still is!), without the jacket I think I would be sitting in plaster right about now.

The bike... well, my lil CeeGee isn't exactly happy. It starts, but the right side is pretty much done - bent wheel, handlebars, exhaust cracked and dented, brake level twisted...

The seat is ok tho Very Happy

THank god I took fully comp out - £100 excess and I pretty much get a new bike out of it (when they finally get it sorted lol)

Oh well, as everyone keeps telling me - could have been much worse...

Very Happy

Your going to claim????

You haven't passed your test your still a learner, not going to be good on your premiums for the future.

Plus by the time you've done the claim, what's your excess, I bet I could fix most things you've listed on a £300 excess.

I'd look on ebay at fixing it yourself.

I don't have the luxury of being able to fix it myself - I'm not physically able to use the tools Neutral

Besides, my premiums are somewhat low - I forget the exact cost, but it was about £200 ish I think for the year for me, my premium shouldn't increase *that* much, so I'm quite happy.

Been wanting to sell the CG anyway, at least this way I't'll be pretty much showroom condition Very Happy

( £100 excess, as I did say above... )

I came off last night (probably seen my post), 10mph, crappy wet diesel off camber corner and the front is out on me, not sure how i landed but i do know my back is killing me today. Bike didn't start straight away after i came off, wouldn't go into first gear, same thing this morning, had to get a bump start in 2nd, luckily i did no damage apart from a slight scratch on the heatshield and fairing, can't imagine how you did so much damage at 10mph!

Glad your ok though, it never hurts when you do it, always the day after Sad

Seriously, nor can I - I know the bike went down very hard, as I didn't even have time to blink before I was on the floor sliding down the road...

I took a look after I managed to figure out what way was up and at first glance it didn't look all that bad.

Then I tried pushing it Neutral

I can only surmise that due to the slipperiness of the road, and the fact I was gently braking, the bike turned away from the direction of the fall, making the impact a lot harder than it would have if I was turning the other way.

Either way, it's messed up (not that I'm TOO bothered, the exhaust was looking a touch manky anyway lol)

Top-tip kids.... any lower than 20mph.. DO NOT TOUCH that front brake. R-send lock up will not dump you in the same way as a front end lock up will.

No, no, really... you're welcome.

Rear will lock up much sooner, however.
Better observation in the first place is always going to be the best idea.

Even with a £100 excess, not sure I'd be claiming, especially if you want to get a bigger bike... need to befriend some tool-using people if you have trouble with them your self Smile.

Just in case that was aimed at me; I was fully aware of the horse rider in front of me, coming in my direction. It wasn't the braking that floored me, it was the change of direction on the unseen-ice that did it, my braking was very soft on both front and back.

And yes, if it was my own fault, I would happily admit it. Only thing I could have done better was to fully check the road before I left, truth was that I was on my way to work, and from a glance I thought it was just like the other cold frosty mornings we'd had; I was unaware of the short rainshower a few hours earlier.

Oh, and the bike was repaired at a total cost of £850.
