HI Recently bought GS500 2003 that was originally restricted. Dealer derestricted the bike. Now at perfect idle setting 1200rpm bike idles and rides well untill braking and coming up to a junction. When the clutch is slipped coming down to 1st gear the bike stalls. It starts straight away again and sits at idle again. Tried increasing idle to 1500rpm and it doesnt stall but the engine starts to race at junctions. Now does anyone out there have any ideas. Apparently pilot screws on the carbs are preset by manufacture. As i have no idea how a GS500 would have been restricted and if its worth tweaking pilot screws and cleaning carbs out.

Cheers in advance Happy

i would go to www.gs500.co.uk and ask them.. Very Happy
great bunch,
first off i would pull the carbs off and acxtually check that they have derestricted the carbs, there are pics ect on the gs site as to what a restricted carb slide looks like, there is a like in the workshop manual thread for the manual,
the bike hasnt changed in 20 odd years apart from a few minor details,

changing/resetting the pilot screws can be done on the bike with those little screw driver attachments.
only the us model bikes have a wee gromet to stop you getting to them.
if i remember right its 2 and 3/4 turns out. (screw them all the way in and then screw out)

have fun,
the wee gs will serve you well
Thumbs Up
