hi, ive been looking at this forum for a while and thought id make a post. ive been riding for 5 years now, on harleys for the last 3, but had to get rid ude to finances! so after 8 months without a bike, i got the urge again and decided to go out and get a kwacker zxr750l3. i had a j model as my first bike so i knew what i was expecting but this is quick!!! Very Happy its had a respray but i think its tasteful ( i love green kwacks, there faster you know!), micron can, decent tyres, new pads and discs, braided hoses, and all the mots and service history. paid £900 for it. is that a good price, its on an N plate with 23800 miles.
just needs a good clean up under the fairings, the last owner loved wd40 so is everywhere!
only queries ive got are it doesnt like to start when its warm, it fires first time from cold and runs perfect when going but if i stop for 5 mins and try and restart it just spins and doesnt fire. it takes a few attempts with the throttle open to get it going. could it be down to the fuel tank vent or is it more likely to be the carbs? it has only done 400 miles in the last two years so im thinking it might be crap in the carbs, but im not the most technical person going!
anyway, heres a few pics just to show it off, its actually a darker green than in the pics, the flash made it look lighter!

I've had two of those. Great bikes! and I'd have another Thumbs Up

Probably down to the carbs, get them off and give them a good clean out. Full throttle to start then slowly roll off the throttle and the revs pick up? Mine used to do that, cleaned the carbs out and all was ok. Thumbs Up Might be something else though Laughing

Good luck.

cheers all, any idea how hard the carbs are to clean? ive always made a point of not touching the fuel system on a bike as it seems like there is too much to go wrong! lol

carbs are carbs,
pull the tank off
pull the airbox off,
undo the carbs, undo the throttle cable,
remove carbs,
unscrew float bowls, remove floats, unscrew main and pilot jets,
unscrew carb tops,(beware spring) remove diaphragms and needle
clean and blow through with compressed air.

then reverse to put back on.
easy really Very Happy

just in case: keep the carbs together, you do not need to split them off from each other Thumbs Up

My bike used to hardstart when it was hot,i think it was down to the mixture being too rich.If you clean out the carbs just check the jet sizes while you are there to see if they are stock.
