Very Happy Think I might have mis-explained that?
I meant behind it looking at it from the back of the bike.. so, err, infront of the back wheel? I'm confused now lol. Out of sight anyway!

out of all the countless job options, how the hell can anyone.... even el gimpo scamera slug ........ say " yer, thats the job for me".

one advantage though, if you do suspect that you have been caught by this upstanding example of humanity breaking a speed limit, i'm sure a little 'gentle persuasion' could see the evidence somewhat tainted... or lost altogether!!! Thumbs Up

well didnt someone post a pic of their bike on here where the rear number plate was a sticker and they stuck in under the frame above the wheel but was still sorta visible if you needed to see it and was obscure enough to make it difficult for cameras (not intentionally ofcourse Razz )

Why can't we mount the numberplate sideways on the bike? It's ok for the Tax disc!!!!

Oh and could the reason for the fall in accidents possibly be that it's pissed down with rain all summer and hardly anyone has been out!!!??!!

A47 is tempting to speed in places but to be honest most of them are so small and traffic so heavy that trying to push it makes you a bit of a nob.

I am far more concerned about the fact the cameras aren't calibrated for use on Motorbikes.

They've only introduced it cos of those people, those are the people you want to be thanking.

As far as the bikers who come off as they grab a big handful of panic when they spot the van, boring as it is, they're going too fast cos that could be someone turning out of a side road or driveway, some other obstruction that needs slowing down for like a crashed car across the road, or it could even be a fluffy kitten!!! Shocked

They're one step ahead of you I'm afraid, they had the normal front facing camera, one at the front of the scamera van to get the rear numberplate and one camera on the the side of the van as well. Razz

I was waiting for that lol yes you shouldnt speed past them deliberately... but at the same time theres people who arnt doing that and if they're unconsciously going over the speed, check it because they saw the van, and slow down, they are guna have a car smashing into the back of them (saw this exact thing happen)

Those people sound like an accident waiting to happen really. Surely the problem there is people tail gating rather than cameras?

And who are all these people who're unable to maintain a constant speed without having their eyes glued to the speedo? It's not massively hard and unless you're doing substantially over the posted limit then you're only going to need to adjust your speed by a couple of mph at the worst.

Thinly veiled excuses which don't really make much sense, all they do is make bikers seem like dangerous road users in the first place. Thumbs Down

this raises a few questions though.
if your caught going too quick on the first camera, but have slowed down on the second where thay can acutally still see you plate will you still get done?
officially the picture they have with your plate would show you not speeding?

hard to explain, my old job was a CCTV operator, to secure a conviction I needed proof of continuity when watching shoplifters etc. so they'd conceal an item, i'd have to watch them ALL the time ( in case they put the item back without me seeing, which would then lead to a false arrest), and then i'd need to get them on video leaving the store to secure to prove the theft.

this works same way, you're caught speeding via the first camera, side camera keeps the continuity from the 1st video, and then the rear video carries on from that which then catches your plate.

Bollox. If you're doing 30 in a 30, and a cop aims a speed gun at you, you're naturally going to grab a handful of brake, it's instinct. Also, just incase you'd drifted slightly over(speedo over-reading don't count here) so not traveling too fast, they truly are just revenue collecting cnuts.

How many serious incidents are there reported from IOM? You know, the place that has non speed limits zones? None - cos there's no camera's etc to make them stop quick and lose control through instinctive reaction.

No it's not instict to grab a handful of brake when you're doing 30 in a 30 past a speed trap. Laughing

We have people who brake hard enough to make themselves crash and we have people who brake even when there's no need, WTF!?!?! Holding a constant speed is easy, from what gear you're in and the engine noise you should have a fairly good idea of how fast you're going without even having to look at the speedo.

The idea that speed traps cause people to brake or cause people to fall off is quite frankly bollocks. If it's true then those people shouldn't really be on the roads in the first place. Penny Coin Penny Coin
