Looking at ebay, they look to be £15-20.

Is it worth me getting an expensive one over an el cheapo?

i just got one from hein gerike for 45 quid its an oxford one but totally waterproof, so lets no damp inside, plus on the inside it has a soft dust cover, im happy with it Laughing

before i had a cheapy one from halfords or summin and it wasnt waterproof so u always know waters getting through to your bike.

worth spending a bit of money if you leave your bike outside Thumbs Up

Fantastic, sounds good. It's either a cover or building a lean-to garage from tongue+groove... which I don't fancy!!

If it were up to me, I'd just park it indoors. Smile

I got one at Argos for about £15.

But its only for occasional use as I have a garage at work & home for my bike.

Saying that, the bike was left out side during a storm (I was on a course) and it was dry underneath.

The Motrax ones are also pretty decent, heat proofed in the right places (exhaust) and breathable. Thumbs Up

If you can be bothered waiting a little bit and messing round - youll be able to pick up a decent oxford cover off ebay.
I got one of the Oxford Stormex ones for 28 quid inc shipping (second hand but in good nick) and its by far the best cover ive seen.
Its waterproof, heatproof, breathable and has a nice soft fluffy inside so as not to scratch stuff. Its like a big waterproof duvet Smile
100% reccomended (although probably not at the RRP - theyre a bit dear brand new) Thumbs Up

One thing that annoys me with bike covers is that it's never obvious which way round they go. And I invariably put mine on the wrong way first, meaning it doesn't fit properly.

I had an expensive green one at one point, made of similar material to old school heavy textile tents. It was excellent quality, but soaked up water.

Oxford Stormex. Mine cost me £50. It's alot of money, but a very good quality cover comapred to others! The water used to bead off it, but now it sort of "soaks in" like with an old raincoat. The water doesn't get through to the inside though.

Might see about getting some NikWax spray on waterproofy stuff and try that.

I'd rate it 4/5. Not quite 5/5 because of the price tag.

Overwhelming support for this one!

Is the fit good? I presume it's elasticated round the tires, maybe a strap underneath the bike?

My old cover was a pain to secure, hopefully the more expensive ones won't have this problem.

I wish I could remember what my cover was, I had to ditch the packaging at HG to get it to fit in my tank bag. It's utter rubbish though, rain soaks through it and it has a habit of almost blowing right off my RST with only my pointy tail tidy hooking it and stopping it flying off.

I'm assuming all you Oxford guys are rating the same Stormex cover right? Might have to go get one of them Thumbs Up

i have a motrax heavy duty cover, soft inside lining and waterproof/breathable.

Medium size RRP £30, the piece of string is a bit crap that it comes with to tie down (one eyelet either side plus elasticated around wheels) but a simple bungee or such would solve that.

I had an Oxford one, it blew away on the A1 when I was covering a bike on a trailer with it.

If anyone sees it let me know. Thumbs Up

Apologies for digging up this thread again everyone, but i suppose its better then starting a new one.
Is there much difference between the waterproof covers out there?
I'm thinking of either getting the £15 one you can get from argos or probably a camo one from ebay (2nd link). On a second note, which size? medium?

I have a £20 Oxford one, elastic round tires, strap for underneath.

Keeps my bike perfectly dry and water doesn't collect anywhere on it. Soft inside layer, mentioned something about avoiding scratching paint on the box.

Had it for 5 months now, no holes, no rips, no water coming through.

I can't really see any reason why a more expensive one would be needed.

Dude, avoid the cheapo one from Argos, I bought it and really wish I hadn't. Big rip by the bars, which is only made worse when taking the cover off if I'm not careful. Keeps the rain off, but lets loads of moisture in.

Now that I'm skint I wish I'd have bought a proper one to start with Evil or Very Mad

I use the oxford stormex aswell, really good cover. I've used it all weather conditions and my bike has not shown any ill effects from the elements.
