I really want a 125 sporty looking bike, as my mate thinks his mo-ped is the best lol cos hes the only 1 with one, but ive been jobless so Middle Finger Evil or Very Mad Middle Finger him!

any ideas? what tests i'd have to do, as said before, would i have to do a cbt cos its my first bike & geared? but we dont do them over here. we just get a provisional and thats it i think lol not too sure at the mo.

Compulsory basic training for motorcycles and mopeds (England, Wales and Scotland only)

All learner moped and motorcycle riders (except for those listed below) must complete a compulsory basic training (CBT) course.

These people do not have to complete a CBT course:-

* people who are learning to drive a motorbike and who have already obtained full moped entitlement as a result of passing a moped test on or after 1 December 1990
* people riding a moped with the full entitlement given automatically with a full car licence.

CBT courses are run by motorcycle training bodies approved by the Driving Standards Agency. They are listed under ‘motorcycle training’ in the Yellow pages or ‘motorcycling instruction’ in Thompson directories. For further information about CBT courses, contact the Driving Standards Agency on 0115 901 2500.

If you have a provisional licence which is restricted to the use of motorbikes or scooters, this will last for an initial period of two years. If you have not passed the test by the end of two years you will have to wait one year before applying to renew the licence. During this year you will not be able to drive a motorbike or scooter.

The long and short of it is NO YOU DONT HAVE TO DO CBT....ring DSA on number mentioned above if your still having doughts!

Welcome to the forums mate.

Dunno what you have to do to get on a geared 125 in IRL, but I'd be careful with a Sachs, the build quality has a pretty bad rep.

I agree, the Sachs can be hit or miss. Better to look at some of the Japanese four's offerings.

125 machines are, but riders who are on a provisional licence with L plates are not.

CBT does not apply in Northern Ireland.

What are provisional licence conditions?

As a provisional licence holder you are restricted to a maximum speed limit of 45 mph and you must display L-plates on the front and rear of your machine. You are also not allowed to drive on a motorway.

Oops. I wouldn't bother with an RS on L plates then!!!

Best off looking to do your test straight away Thumbs Up

Sorry for the bad info mate, I didnt know you dont have CBT's funny that I was born in Belfast lol not been back in 13 years though Shocked

And no you wont look funny in leathers mate, you can also get textiles as well.

I would rather were that, than hitting the road at 30+ and rip the skin from my arms, legs, balls Confused

Always buy the best you can afford as they will last if you look after them.

Plus who dosnt look cool in bike gear? Laughing

Thumbs Up

I left when I was 16 moved to Scotland, better jobs here and none of the nonsense from back home.

you should also buy a oversuit for when its pissing down, wont cost much and it shoudl be much nicer than moving around in the cold!

Not sure on the license stuff tho, someone from home should help you out there.

Thumbs Up
