Help - Converting from car tape player to CD player

Its in a Daewoo matiz 99 model. I have taken the old tape player out but found that the plug/wires wont plug into the new CD player i want to put in. The old tape payer is white and longer in width but the CD player is balck and less wide and more square.
Is there anyway of getting a converter to fit from the old plug in the car to the new CD plug? Cheeers.

Try Halfrauds if you don't want to wait around for postage, they do loads of ISO adapters there.

Back in the day I used to sacrifice the old plug off the radio and then put spade crimps onto all the wires and push these into the new iso, or vice versa whichever way round i cant remember properly.

Basically it would end up with

Car adapter > old radio plug (cut off)> ends with spade crimps (female I think) > new plug

Then cram the lot in and away you go.

Much easier to buy the correct plug but I think they used to be £10+

I went to halfords, got one from there, plugged it all in and the cd player wotn work, I tried three different CD players in the car and not one would work, they would beep and flash as though it was turning off but it would not remain on. So i returned the adpater and will just stick the tape player/radio.It seems the matiz doesnt like CD players....

Thats why I liked the cut and crimp method, I could get my meter out and check the live, earth and switched live. Then put each set of speaker wires on and listen to where the sound was coming from. Oh i was in my element.

It sounds like something to do with the switched live. IIRC I had the same problem when wiring a tape player into my cavalier - I just connected it directly to the permanent live so the radio switched on and off independantly from the ignition. Bit of a pain when I forgot to switch it off though
