Rubbish high beam, what options do I have?

I have an NSR125 2001 which I love dearly but the old girl's high beam is crap, it's almost as pathetic as the low beam. Going round country roads is scary and well...dark! haha

What options do I have and if anyone knows the bulb number or have some links I'd love you long time Smile

Higher power bulbs can cause problems as the generator isn't rated that high.
Could be worth looking at a HID kit as these tend to come in at 35w, yet give out more power than a 55w normal bulb.
Will cost a few pennies, however.

i would highly recommend a hid kit, but make sure it's a plug and play kit, because come MOT time your gonna have to pop your original bulb back in.

can be bought for about 50 notes on the internet

I chucked in a halogen bulb in my ZZR1100 and had no issues, its not road legal, but, just change it back to the old one for the MOT.

Yeah the cheapest and legal thing to do is fit a halogen something% brighter bulb. Halfords do a super-bright 'SB' 50% brighter bulb, and this time of year they usually have them on BOGOF, so for £15 you get two really bright bulbs.

Alternatively check out somewhere like Nippy Normans and see what they have on offer.

maybe there is something wrong with the connections.

Have you took the headlight off and cleaned up the terminals which connect the headlight to the loom?

Make sure the bike can produce enough power for extra lights ect.

Carry one of these, no fitting required and they're really bright.
