I promised myself i would be carefull and try not to hit anyone.

I was filtering through traffic today morning and just coming to a roundabout.

I stopped in between two vechiles on the white line but more forward. On my left was a transit van driver I accidently clipped his mirror while passing him and then stopped, waited till the light turned green. Normally the mirrors are tough, but my left mirror was slightly pushed forward.

As soon as I got in front of him, I waved my hand to say sorry... and then shot off to work.

Normally I can get to work in 45min today I got to work in 20min WOW that was quick.

Only problem is that I do this route everyday... hope he does not see me next time.

Don't worry about it, was a mistake and you said sorry. I wouldn't worry about him in the future either, he will probally more out of the way for bikers more now. Laughing

After 26 years riding I manage to clip a mirror about once a year when filtering and every time is still like the first time.

I feel like a naughty boy who has broken a window with his ball and runs off as fast as he can. Mr. Green

Done it once or twice myself, seems very common and my best mate who drives a van for a living says he gets it all the time and doesn't really pay attention anymore. Thumbs Up

Lesson to be learnt?

I felt bad when I clipped one on a van and like you had to wait at a set of lights. I was praying for green and looking in my mirrors as to see if he was coming through the traffic on foot to give us a wallop.

Just be more careful and slow down, its not a race. Saying this there was a little convoy on the way home this morning that was quite funny being in.

Yet another display by some of the more immature of us 'its their own fault' mentality. Not a reference to the original poster by the way, read on.

If you clip a mirror by acccident then Im sorry but your not being observant, riding with good judgement or keeping yourself safe. It certainly isnt the fault of the driver that you are too impatient and try to skip through a gap which your instinct should tell you that you cant fit.

If its an accident FFS LEARN from it. If you do it 'all the time' then time to start thinking. I filter past hundreds of cars on the way to work and never once has this happened in six years.

Back to one of you whom thinks violence against cars is always fine and that cars are always in the wrong. Grow up and get a clue Thumbs Down

I clipped a wing mirror once but it only a skim it didn't even knock my mirror out of postion (i just hear a bang, i guess i hit the mirror) and it was on some company minibus so i left it i don't even think the driver looked. If it was someones new merc i probably would have pulled over.

Was that aimed at me Confused . I don't have that mentality and don't think it is the drivers fault in anyway, all the rider.
