Hi guys,

I now have my CBR1000 RR-5, but need to get a pair of winter tyres for it. I am going to get them tomorrow, so I just thought I'd ask if anyone can recommend a decent make.
Sorry its short notice, but any suggestions based on experience would be great,

thanks

Steve

Never had any problems with Continental Road Attack or ContiMotion tyres. Cheaper than most and superb in both dry and wet. They aren't pilot CT11 or whatever super sticky rubber crap people go about these days but I can't fault either myself. Mostly had them on sv650's but had road attacks on a gsxr-1000 and they were ace.

Think that's what I paid, roughly.

A lot for the fitting though, considering they are ~£145 posted on ebay!

Im using Bridgestone bt021 at the moment, im very pleased so far. Seems very good in the wet, ive certainly had less slides than when i was using the bt014. Havent tried any others yet so i cant compare, but im happy Thumbs Up

Dunlop roadsmarts! Obviously Cool Laughing

Like pilot road 2's but cheaper and more neutral steering. Very good warm up times, tread life (should be about 6000 miles on a thou) and very good in the wet and damp. Need i say more? Better than bridgestone BT020's no end! The tyre profile is very similar to that of the Dunlop D209 qualis.

Another vote for the road attacks, just got some on my TT600 and have been really please after the BT010s I had before. Should last a little longer, as well as great road performance. Thumbs Up

I thought about winter tyres for my Speed Four, but I couldn't be bothered to remove perfectly good summer ones.

So I spent £270 on a winter hack. I got myself an MZ ETZ 301 Saxon Fun for that, and I saved myself the hassle of tyre changes and the worry of my bike being attacked by road salt.

Much better value for money IMO Laughing

I've got 8100 out of my Michelin Pilot Road 2 on my GSXR 750, and they have been fantastic. Shot now though Laughing

Considered Diablo's, or Diablo Rosso's?

My mate had Diablo's on his 954 and raved about them.

Hi all,

I just had a pair of Dunlop Sportmax Qualifier RR put on, been advised that they are good and grippy in all weather conditions...once warmed up.
I'll keep yo posted if I have any moments. Shocked

I have BT021 tyres fitted to my hornet. I like them. They certainly give a good amount of confidence. They rarely step out, and if they do it's usually because I turned in too fast - i.e threw the bike into the corner in the wet!

It depends how you ride to how many miles you'll get out of the tyres though. It's Usually less miles for the rear one. Mine wear down pretty fast - within about 5k I reckon - but I ride on them in summer too and I'm not exactly a granny rider.

I like Diablos. Even a Strada worked quite nicely on the backend of my R6 last year, think I'll get another pair once my 015s have worn out.

i use pilot power 2ct's on my rr6 all year round, great in the dry....and i would say nearly as good in the wet, they get upto temperature quick and hold it fairly well too.

all down to personal choice what your comfortable with i guess.
