Hi,

Please is there anybody out there who can help?

Guess who managed to download the virus yesterday thats been going around on facebook? Yep me!
The damm thing had taken over my internet explorer and my BT browser!
Off I went this morning to PC World to get it all removed, which lucky for me they told me they had Thumbs Up
Got it back home, hooked it all up, all looks normal but guess what? NO internet connection Shocked so i've just come off the phone from BT they've been trying to help me for the last 2 hours but no joy Sad they're sending me out a new router (which seems saft because I have a spare one that I hooked up and it still does the same thing!)
Problem i'm having now is this:
When I try to load up to internet explorer it tells me that 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage' now I do have a good connection its all working as its been checked by BT (done all the safe mode steps and the pinging steps)
Now heres the thing I don't understand and neither did the chap at BT... In my internet options (in explorer) I have the home page set to 'about:blank' but its still displaying this address in the address bar https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=74005 (which i've copied into a working connection on sons laptop and just get www.btyahoo.com but the page is blank Confused Anyone know what it is? anyone have a clue whats going wrong???
I'm on my sons laptop at the moment so at least I can get on to find some help!

Thanks in advance Karma

First mistake was taking it to PC World. They have fubared something up as usual.

XP or Vista?

Download Malwarebytes (Google it) on another PC and install it on yours, update and run it.

Scared to ask what Anti-virus program and Firewall your running as it's usually Nortons pile of steaming poo.
