PostPosted: 15:00 - 11 Nov 2008    Post subject: Parking ticket fail Reply with quote

I was parked in this bay said from 6am to 8pm no more than 1 hour and I arrived about midnight. Went outside today at 3pm and see a parking ticket issued. Fair enough I looked at it and put it back in its wrapper and put it back on my ped to go to subway. got back and it had gone. Now what?

Does anyone have a number I can ring to pay or something.

Thanks

Just google "council" + "name of the area you got the ticket" + "parking fines"

Surely that would have been the first thing you thought of before posting on here?

Leave it 24 hours though before you ring them, they probably won't have a record of your reg/fine yet.

If it was a council thingy me bob then they now take pictures of your reg and car/bike when they produce the ticket.

Some private firms will tell you they have, when infact they haven't but most actually do.

Dont mean to state the obvious but why not go to the carpark
look on the pay and display board for either a phone number, or a company name then google it for the number?

I'm sure if they are desperate enough, they will contact you in the next week or two.

it wasn't in a car park. On a back road with white dashed lines for parking.

I will phone council tomorrow and see what they say.

By which time they will add it to your fine for the pleasure of reminding you.

You will find accurate and concise instructions on the back of the ticket.

They are only out to make money, they make it VERY easy for you to part with yours. I assure you, you will find no difficulty handing over the cash.

hmm.

unless you cover the number plate/ tax disk/ frame and engine numbers.

they cant legally take anything off the bike. best idea would be to carry a cover aroundwith you in your rucksack and put it over the bike while your parked.

Public highway? Never pay a parking ticket till you've checked out the lines and signs, there is usually something wrong with one or the other which gives you grounds for appeal.

They have been allowed to remove anything covering the identity of the bike for well over a year now. Wink

Even if you could still cover the plate and tax disc...they will probably blab on you to the boys in blue for not displaying tax and registration 'document' on a public highway Wink

Really? What if you had a bike cover on it, that was padlocked tight underneath (I know, I know, it's just theoretical Laughing )?

Are they allowed to damage it to identify it? Or would they just sit and wait for you? Laughing

Surely the council would have to notify you by letter of the ticket. What if (theoretically) some bad person stole it off your vehicle just for kicks!!
