After at least 2 years of wanting one and a couple of months looking for the right one I finally got my hands on a ST last week. Very Happy

I had a 650 mile round trip to the Newcastle area to pick it up but it was well worth it. It's in very good condition an 05 plate with just over 6k miles. After my ride home ( through torrential rain ) I had no aches or pains at all, the grunt is amazing compared to the 6R I had and the gearbox is so smooth.

Anyway here's a couple of pics of it fully loaded up.

No, it was a slog back up the M6/M74. It was a very long day to pick it up. My pal who came with me was leaving his daughter off at Glasgow airport for 3am so we left home at midnight ! Had a couple of hours kip off the motorway at Carlisle. Got to the guys house at 7.30am and set off for home again at 9am. It started to piss it down so I felt the best thing to do was just to batter on on the motorway. From Glasgow to home the sun was mostly out so it was a nice run down Loch Lomond A82 onto the A83 home.

Looks good. I recently got the older version and was surprised at the way it revs quite nicely and quickly, even with all that torque. Coming from a J1 ZX6R (which is quite good at in gear acceleration), top gear roll-ons are much better.

Mines a 2000 model so old shape and the gearbox isnt that smooth but apparently it's normal.

Blinding bike for mile munching and two up luggage carrying. Be careful when fully loaded as at about 120-130 it starts to get a bit of a weave on, although this is the older model as metnioned.

Edit: Make sure the next helmet you buy is plain white. I've been asked if I'm a copper already and everybody quickly moves out of your way. Just need to buy a high-viz vest now! Razz

I followed Fnatic, yes it does look like a quality place to live - but what work is there?

That's an obtuse way of asking what you do for work in seemingly the middle of nowhere!?

I work in the fishing industry, manage an office directly working with the fishing boats.
Unemployement does go up and down quite drastically here, a large place opens up, does it's time then moves on which leaves alot of people with nowhere else to go. It's not exactly in the commuting belt round here. Laughing

The latest big employer makes wind turbines. https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/7965266.stm Hopefully that'll keep going for a number of years. Tescos also announced last week that they plan to build a new supermarket so that'll give a fair bit of employment too ( not high flying but still ). So as things stand the next few years don't look too bad.

Top Stuff Mr E and congratulations Thumbs Up

I test rode one when they first came out (I expect my comments are on this site somewhere), lovely bike, easy to ride, comfortable and just all round fun (missus loved it on the back). The pop 'n growl of the exhaust is a soundtrack that I could ride to all day Thumbs Up

I'm glad you've never read my comments on the '05 I had. I'm sure, on reflection, that mine was a 'Friday bike', as no one seems to have had all the problems I had.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I should have.
