I've never had ABS on a car until this one... And I hate it. It cuts in far too early, even when I'm absolutely no where near a skid! would the tyres make a difference to how quick it intervenes? It has firestorms of sorts on and they feel ok in the corners (though I'm coming from a quick steering little polo to a big lumbering civic estate) I'm no boy racer by any means but i just cant seem to drive without the abs coming on! My work vans have it and i've never felt it activate with them so I assume its the car/ tyres? any advice?

You talking Aerodeck?

Thats a big old heavy car up from a Polo, driving style will have to be adjusted, and it is pretty slimy out there at the moment.

The ABS is kicking back at you every time you brake?

old tyres can cause the abs to kick in.
check the brakes are all fine and working equally. do that by a quick inspection behind the wheels.
if one front is not working as it should then the other wheel will be doing all the braking = abs kicking in.
also check the rears.
