Right.

I need to stop riding while I'm running myself into the ground.
I binned my bike while being an idiot, on cold tyres, in cold weather, after a 12 hour shift.

There is no damage apart from fairing scratches/cracks/gravelrash.

It wasn't the cleanest bike ever, had quite a few dings and knocks in the fairings.

It runs sweet, lowish mileage.

I need to get a lever and a footpeg to get it rideable (well rideable without cable ties)

I personally was going to get a new top yoke, weld risers to it, set of dominator headlights etc etc, typical "I crashed my sportsbike now I'm looking cool with the streetfighter attempt" because tbh, I don't care what it looks like, and I'd be more happy learning to wheelie with a bike that it doesn't matter if I smash so bad.

BUT. there is no bracket damage to the clocks bracket or nose bracket, AND I can have the fairings professionally repaired and resprayed for nothing. Not even costs, nothing.

I know the sensible option is to get it repaired and tidy it up, but at the same time I really want to do the other (mainly because I prefer naked bikes)

Heres my options as I see them

Naked bike it, lose all resale value, look a tit

Get it fixed, sell it in spring buy a bandit 1200 Twisted Evil

Get it fixed, ride it still.

What does everyone think?

Get it fixed and ride it. I was tempted to fighter my ZX6R when i more or less wrote it off (Didn't go through insurance, but nevertheless cost me a grand to get it back to the condition it is now).... In hindsight, i wish i sold it for parts and got myself a hack, because the engine decided to let go when the air filter was holed! So that cost me another 700 quid to get right... Now, i've shed blood, sweat and tears on it that I'd want to keep it for another few more years before I'm worthy of a newer bike - and by a new bike, I'm looking at much the same - ZX6R A1P or 04-05 R6. I just like the look of early noughties bikes.

In your case, tidy it up with minimal expenditure, and if your heart is set on on a bandit 12, go for it. Hindsight is a good thing, and to think the amount i could have saved if i sold the bike for 800 before spending thousands on it, then i'd have been a happier man. But, saying that, it wouldn't have taught me anything about home maintenance and repair if i did sell it.

Indeed. You know after you have an off or something goes wrong and your just like 'Fvck it, fvck you and everything' and get grumpy and make radical illogical decisions? Might just be me but meh.

I reckon, fix it, sell it, get money back on it (I got it cheapish anyway)

Save money over winter riding my cb (which incidently is a hella lot of fun considering it's 36 years old)

Buy bandit 12.

what bike is it?

it really depends on the extent of the damage.
if you want a bandit 1200 then go that route because you will be thinking about it all the time until you do get one.
the other option is to fighter it, keep all the original parts and keep looking on ebay for replacments, bidding silly prices around xmas time.
then trade in for a bandit next spring Very Happy
then sell all the fighter parts back on ebay around easter time when everyone tends to bin theirs Wink

Then stick on ebay march time see what happens.
