I'd just like a quick brag to make myself feel better Razz I'm going to be competing in the 2009 BKSA (British Kite Surfing Association) Amateurs divison and I've just received my first sponsorship offer from Steel MX Optics. The contract is that I get 50% on all items and free stickers to plaster all over my board and kites and car. Very HappyVery Happy I feel on top of the fucking world right now Very Happy

Where do you go? I watch them at Poole Harbour quite a bit and there are some pretty impressive 'riders' up at Calshot too.

I had a go once, but the guys teaching were so disinterested I couldn't justify giving them my hard earned cash just for them to leave me by myself for ages on a bit of grass with a kite!

Nearly left the ground yesterday and that was walking the dog!! Shocked

EDIT: Did you see this article? Shocked

I'm usually riding in Exmouth but every so often I go up to kite in Portland Harbour, with my best friend, Rob Snuggs. He's 4th in the BKSA Men's Division. Should be going up there first week of December and you're not far away, pop down for the day and check us out Razz

Unfortunately some people teaching can be utter bastards but others are much more commited to it and will get you up and riding with the average three days course.

Yeh it was bloody windy, I was sitting on the grass verge watching my friend and this n00b windsurfer was setting up, his sail, mast and boom (typically made out of Carbon Fibre) lifted clean off the grass and crossed the road and smacked me in the back of my head and my knee met my face. I spent the next ten minutes lying on the grass, towel now covered in blood before going out again Razz

I love adrenaline Laughing

not much wind in there, in fact the temp is surprisingly constant whatever time of year

for those that dont know its a 3 mile long unlit canal tunnel with a towpath

It actualy has two towpaths Colin.
The fact that there is not much wind would make it a lot safer as neither of us have a clue what we are doing.
I love it down there, very spookie with just a dot of light at each end.

yeah it does have two towpaths thats true, as its so wide it can take canal boats going in both directions, while the dudley tunnel has no towpath and can only take canal boats in one direction at a time, and canoeists are told they must carry a torch

I think the advice to canoeists is very wise, in addition they would do well to have spare batteries and a little bell to ring as an additional warning.

Whenever it's windy you're welcome to come down Hippy Razz

Skluff, I doubt i'll be making a living out of it unfortunately. The only people who can do that are the international pro riders. As for pics:

And what happens when you try your first powered handle pass in water as deep as your knee Laughing

Just to bring this back up again, the same day the photos above were taken there was also a rather attractive looking girl there doing the filming, look out for me, i'm wearing exactly the same stuff as above and riding the same board https://xmedia.ex.ac.uk/tv/watch/368

I thought it was cool as fuck, but I had no idea it was going to end up online Laughing

Nope not yet, and it would be around August, that's when the BKSA tour hits the area Laughing I'll be there next year for sure though.
