parcelforce

They are basically royal mail but different name. Wrap it up and take to local post office, even small ones. Just say parcelforce 48 service and they will tell you. If it is small enough they may even send it as a standard parcel eith royal mail which is cheap.

I send boat engines through the post office/parcelforce and they are cheapest for medium sized things.

city link are gay and annoy because they won't leave it if there is no one in.
dhl is expensive
fed ex is ok but not sure about there service in uk.
few others but id say go with parcelforce.

www.interparcel.co.uk

I've used them to get a good deal several times now. Cheaper than royal mail/parcelforce, and they pick up from you.

Picking up is ok if you are in all day, and your address is not a funny one with gps.

I have had trouble with not being in and them not finding me.

interparcel are quite good although its not actually them that delivers your parcel, they just give it to a different company.

+1. We use them for work and I've never had a problem with them. AFAIK DHL Home 48 is usually the best deal, working out at around a tenner.
