As the title says, i've passed my A2 test today, i got 4 minors so not too bad Very Happy

I have the biggest grin on my face at the moment Laughing it doesn't seem to want to go away.

It was quite a comfortable ride, it had started drizzling when we started the test, i nailed the u-turn, and before i knew it we were turning back into the test centre, it went unbelievably quick, it felt like we was only out for 10 mins but it was actually 40 Laughing

So now i just need to mot and insure my bike and then ill be out on the road Thumbs Up Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Hi,

Could you please run through the observation pattern you followed?

do you avoid or climb speed humps?

how fast did you go on your emerg stop? how much "space" did you take to come to a stop?

does the 40 mins include u turns, etc - so really only 35 mins of road riding?

well done

(test in two weeks. shitting self)

Mirror check every 8 seconds. Climb speed bumps (unless very easy to avoid). Emergency stop from 30mph, stop ASAP (I did a practice one on my "lap of the block"). Change gear AFTER you have stopped completely, then perform mirror checks, then shoulder checks, then move to the side of the road.

HTH Thumbs Up

Mark

[edit]
I was on the road for about 40 mins, 5mins on E-Stop and U turn, 10mins in a traffic jam, 25mins riding.

Practice emergency stop on the lap - excellent idea.

Gives you a good indication of how much you can push it with current road conditions etc.

The test is 37 minutes long (hence the stupid test start times) and roughly 7 minutes of that will be asking question at the start and end of the test. Then you will send 5-7 minutes doing the u-turn and e-stop (he will tell you to go left, left, left, left etc....never heard of them telling you to go right (suppose it takes ages). Depending on the test route, they can or can't see you so you could have a few practises Wink

So i'd estimate your on the road, riding for roughly 25 mins but it will feel like 5 mins, seriously don't worry. If you make a few mistakes in the first 5-10 minutes they may turn a blind eye to it if its minor, as it will probably be down to nerves (hey, i almost turned into a bloody farm!)

If they are them speed bumps that cars can straddle then go round them (but don't slow down), if it s a full width speed bump, or a speed platform then maybe do about 20mph over it.

Only site i could find where it tells you (just before the blue 'good luck' thing at the bottom.

Although my examiner said it would last approximatley 37 minutes Smile

Hi everyone, thanks for the comments. Thumbs Up

Now Steppen22:

1. The observation pattern i followed (if your talking about when cornering) was: look over right shoulder then indicate, then look over your left and manouvere (get closer to the kerb) then another lifesaver just as you are about to turn, then turn.
(That is a left turn, if you were doing a right turn, then look over your right shoulder before moving closer to the centre line, after indication)

2. I did have to go through quite a lot of speed humps, the way i did it was: if there are no cars and its safe to do so then in the middle of the road in between the humps, if there are cars then i would go to the left side and go through there (throughout my whole test i went to the left of the humps just to be safe Wink )

3. well as it was drizzling the roads were greasy so i went about 25mph at the most on the E-stop. Im not sure how far i travelled when doing it, but, just do as normal: front brake first, then back, and just slowly build up pressure on both. (more of front.)

4. Yes the 40 minutes includes u-turns and e-stop, IIRC when you go out and he starts asking questions about the bike, your test has started so knock of time for that too.

5.Thanks Razz

Good luck on your test mate, im sure you'll do fine Thumbs Up

signal,mirror,lifesaver, leap.

Don't worry about the test general rule of thumb is 2 majors will get you a fail as you can debate your way out of 1 unless it's really obvious you've made a mistake.

Go for it, stick to speed limits, practise plenty and shouldn't be a problem. Good Luck.

Well done to OP i got 6 days until my 33bhp is up. Then once i feel safe at full power i'm going for the R6 Throttle Mod Very Happy
