well it sounds growlier and runs like a fucking balistic missile!
only prob is it will only run when the fuel tap is in the 'prime' position, i think it opens up a valve to let the fuel into the engine quicker when you've run out. on the main setting the bike acts like it's run out of fuel. slower idleing revs and give it full on the throttle and it goes to stall.
i think i may have trapped one of the tank vents putting the tank back on.
any other ideas?
Gonna have another poke around tomorrow in the light (damn council garage, no electrics or water :()
cheers

Rikers? where's/what's that?
sorry, prob just me being slow!
my e-mail addy should be on my profile. if not it's venom_freelancer@hotmail.com I'm also on MSN with that addy.
after looking at your avatar i've tried to find more pics, even looking at your site but with no luck.
My GPz was restricted to 33bhp because of the license laws. within the first 2 years of passing your test you're limited to a 33bhp bike, unless you're over 21 and can do the direct access course on a bigger bike.
So i had to pay a whole £250 for four skinny badly drilled pieces of ally that were shoved between my carb and engine. well okay, the certificate of installation's worth more than the actual restrictors (to me anyways!)
do you know Purley tescos? maybe we could meet up in the car park, maybe even tomorrow afternoon/evening? I'll be sure to bring my digi-cam along!

Hi

Prime works by having nothing to stop the fuel coming into the carbs. The other 2 settings use a vacuum tap. When the engine is running there is a slight vacuum after the carbs. A pipe runs from just after the carbs up to the fuel tap. This vacuum opens a valve. The idea is that as soon as the engine stops the vacuum stops so the fuel tap shuts.

Leaving it on prime means you stand a chance of the problem I have with the Bandit, with about 3 gallons of fuel coming out of the tank and through the carbs then landing up in the airbox or the engine.

All the best

Keith

cheers for the help, but i've already worked out the prob. the other short pipe coming off the tap was, i thought, a vent. too short to go anywhere but i noticed a clip mark around it so studied further and found out where it goes. good old haynes manual :)
