I made the assumption that the CB 500 was fairly new'ish (98-03) and according to Wemoto they're £120/pair I think.

Have a browse of Honda spares for a rough idea, fitting you could probably do yourself, but if you're using a mechanic/garage budget around £40/hr + VAT (2 hours max).

Hi, if someone has let the shocks go to shite then is the rest of the bike neglected? What year/mileage/price? Are tyres/chain/sprockets/exhaust ok? don`t just jump in as there are 1000`s of cb500`s - unless it`s an absolute bargain Thumbs Up

If the engine sounds right and it starts on the button then I wouldn't worry about it too much. Far more important is the condition of the radiator - it's the weak point along with the regulator/rectifier.

However I would put at least a couple of hundred away against replacement consumables for any bike that age.

Replacement of shocks is probably one of the easiest jobs on a bike - it's a question of 4 bolts.

New ones on eBay are £59.99 including the shipping.
