Well it makes a change, but I actually received a NICE letter from the DSA this morning.
| Quote: | I am writing to inform you that a partial refund of your test fee has been authorised for the above practical test motorcycle application.
The motorcycle test fees have increased from the 29th September 2008 in line with the new structure below.
Motorcycle Practical (Weekday)
Old Fee - £60.00
New Fee - £80.00
Motorcycle Practical (Weekend & Evening)
Old Fee - £70.00
New Fee - £92.00
Motorcycle Practical Extended (Weekday)
Old Fee - £120.00
New Fee - £150.00
Motorcycle Practical Extended (Weekend & Evening)
Old Fee - £140.00
New Fee - £184.00
After checking our records, it would appear that your application was booked for a date prior to the implementation of the new fee structure; However it was charged at the new rate.
A refund of the difference in the fee has now been authorised and a payable order will be issued to you within 14 days. |

I think it's fucking disgraceful that they are charging the new fee for the old test.
I read today that they want to increase the fee to 90 pounds next year.
It's so obviously money grabbing that it leaves a bitter taste. I think they are taking the piss. It's like, we stuck our fingers in the pie, we made all the mess meddlin' with a test system that was working fine, but you can pay for it all, lowly pissant public. The arrogance of these clowns is just staggering: we fucked up, you clear it up. It's the equivelent of a shop saying "This tv is hd ready. So you'll expect to pay a bit more....except we haven't got round to making it hd ready, yet - still, we've printed out all of our price tags, so you'll just have to pay the bloated price. Sorry. Fuck you".
Think about it. 80 quid for 35-40 minutes. If you were in Amsterdam, believe me, you could get a lot more for your money.
I think the dsa are as cuntish as the lot of 'em. I'm all for paying a fair price - wages have to paid etc - but to make a PROFIT from people just wanting to get on the road is morally repugnant to me. I'm tending to have more respect for people who stick two fingers up to the system and just ride without any license. I used to despise these people, but now I can see why some people say no to the grubby dsa pickpocketers. You have to be a rogue to beat the rogues.
I think there should be a fairer system: you only pay the full price if you pass.
So everyone pays, say 40 pounds, but if you pass, you have to stump up another 25, or whatever. This will encourage people to get the training they need becuase you'll not lbe ooking at a significant hit in your wage packet for every fucking effort you have.
That makes sense, right? Why should someone who ends up with nothing pay the same as someone who ends up with everything: the test shouldn't be a fucking financial gamble for people on low incomes.
The dsa are in danger of making it more expedient for people to exhort: fuck you and your endless price hiking, and then proceed to shit all over their entirely corrupt project. ____________________ no regrets, no retreat, no apology.
I've made mistakes in the past, and I apologise for FUCK ALL.

Well done on getting a refund!
I only took my test a month or so ago, and spoke to my instructor about the new test, and she said that it was probably going to change so you could do the two parts separately, so if you fail one you don't have to retake both parts, which is rather nice! (Not that the new test is nice.. but you know what I mean) |
