 |
|
Okay as many of you know I bought my YZF750 in November. I realised a little while ago that my yokes seem to have been dropped down the forks quite a lot (16mm). I have read that doing this improves the bikes turn-in speed but would affect the stability. Does 16mm of forks showing through the yoke seem excessive? And should I raise the yoke up to a more sensible height. I havent really suffered any problems with the handling (kneedown seems fine etc) so I am tempted to leave it as it is. Any suggestions?

It may make it more likley to tank slapper etc, I believe.
I've got mine dropped a fair bit at the mo (did it when I was expecting to go to elvington on it ) I've got a steering damper as well, which helps on bumpy roads
If you have higher profile tyres (ie race tyres) then to keep the same height you do need to drop it slightly.
Though ... as they say 'If it aint broke'. |

It hasn't dropped on its own, its how it has been since I bought it.
And thanks 'biker' I think i will do as you say and reduce the amount of fork that is showing through the drop. drom what I have read, loads of people have dropped there forks through by 10mm on this particular bike as it is regarded as being very stable and the reduction in stability is outweighed by the quicker steering.
The problem I have now after looking at it is that one of the allen headed bolts on the fork leg seems to be a bit rounded off ____________________ "Unlike public school you don't need to have your arse up and your head down to go a long way...." |
