Stupid wanking cars!!!!

Filtering on the A406 on Wednesday night, traffic crawling as there are water works.
I’m filtering between the center and right lanes, going about 25mph (I think) a Volvo S60 decided he wanted to switch to the right hand lane.

He promptly did so without indicating or looking in his mirror.

He did this just as I was going to pass him, causing me to slam into his rear wing and continue full force into the rear door then bounce off and mount the curb on the central reservation.

It happened here…

Damage to car = scratched dented rear wing, completely mushed rear door, big dent in front door.

Damage to bike = smashed mirror, smashed indicator and broken footpeg hanger/gear shift, couple of scratches to fairing but overall not bad

Damage to self = possibly fractured little finger (not certain as I cant be bothered to wait 2hrs in A&E so I have strapped it all up and might pop to hospital really early in the morning when they are less busy.

But the good part of all of this was that I scared the 3 romanian blokes in the Volvo as I was laughing as my hand doubled in size as it swelled.

And I also made a fooking good dent in the car.
Picture doesn’t do it justice…

whilst sorting stuff, the po po turned up to get us out of the middle of the road, and the driver admitted full responsibility.

My office is about half a mile away so I called my boss (also a biker) and he came to help me out.

We jammed it into 2nd and managed to ride it back to the office where it currently sits until I get a new foot peg and other bits

Not being nasty but 25mph is way to fast to be filtering unless the surrounding traffic is travelling at 20mph+-.

You should only do 5-10mph faster than the surrounding traffic and leave enough room to stop safely. You may find the insurance only go 50/50 in the end.

Living up to your user name. Wink

yeah I know 25 is a tad fast but at the time it seemed ok, good view of the road ahead and good space inbetween the cars.

not decided if we are going through ins yet as driver called me yesterday and said he didn't want to, I didn't really want to as I need to get back on the bike asap and the driver is happy to pay for my bits so cant really be bothered with the hassle of insurance.

LOL! good spot on the username there. never clocked onto that one before Smile

Give him a quote for the work first just to see if he will pay ( some think it will only be £50 to fix a bike) if he winges go straight to insurance. Don't forget the power of a broken finger for extra dosh.

Ah...the good old "seemed a good idea at the time" line! A classic and nice to see it's not been forgotten by the younger generation.

2 years ago my mate had exactly the same accident as you just had...Norwich ring road, filtering, car decided to turn right without checking mirrors or indicating, straight into his path etc etc. The eventual outcome was 50/50.

just got back from the hospital and they wern't too happy that I hadn't come in sooner.

I have a broken little knuckle, I saw the xray and it looks like my knuckle is not attached to my hand at all.
they were talking about it for a while and then just put some tape arount my little finger and the one next to it.

got an appointment at the fracture clinic on the 2nd of dec.
seems a little worrying as I just made a fist and I only have 3 lumps instead of the usual 4

see pics below...

and this is how it should be...

kinda worrying so I might try to find second oppinion.

So it is wrong that you wait 24 hours to go to get it checked out, but it's ok for them to make you wait over a week before they can do anything. Thinking
