Bought this mito ages ago for two reasons, one the current girlfriend at the time to learn to ride on. Two, convert to rd350 engine when she’s passed her test. Personally I think the mk1/mk2 mito will be better to stick the rd350 in, mainly to make a good sleeper.
https://img299.imageshack.us/img299/2007/dscf0002bg81yx7.th.jpg
So finally I get the bike back as the ex (still good friends) now has a vfr400. Unfortunately she dropped the bike a few times, so I want to get the whole fairing resprayed. Maybe to the original colours but I don't know not a very arty person?

So picked the bike up today and started straight away by removing fairing...

Removing anything I don't need...
https://img529.imageshack.us/img529/1820/24122007083pp0.th.jpg
Finally dropped the engine out...
https://img153.imageshack.us/img153/4807/24122007085cw8.th.jpg
https://img299.imageshack.us/img299/7200/24122007087ei1.th.jpg
Getting abit cramped in my garage now...
https://img524.imageshack.us/img524/1976/24122007088tx9.th.jpg

So next stage is to pick up the rd350 i've bought this Friday. Strip that for what I need etc. Then I'll buy Anand mounts and go from there.

I think this will be a slow going project maybe 3months time it will be rideable but not perfect. But I will post up updates when I can.

One was talking today, with two broken arms and collarbone. The other mate was in surgery so didn't get to see him. About 7 of us were there to take the piss and usual things Thumbs Up.

Women drove away after driving into them and found later, drunk. So she spent the night in a cell which is good.

Well I think richard was giving spike a lift on his ZR and a car came towards them on their side of the road. Spike doesnt remember much as all he saw was richards helmet and richard has memory loss.

Spike I believe has had a few operations now on his leg. But last time stoney saw him he was getting high on the air mask thingy, so still his usual self.

Stoney on here (also has a monster) is Richards brother so we all went down to see them today.

I hope the lady rots in jail.

Had an amazing party round my friends house where my rd350 was being stored. Went to sleep at 4am quite drunk, woke up at 9am still quite drunk.

Started work on stripping rd350 this morning, hangover was lethal. Started up the bike for the last time for a while. Amazingly it did even tho the petrol in the tank was rotten. Will sell the rd350 as a rolling chassis, plus other spares.

Everything came undone ok, a few screws had to be impacked drived off but nothing hard. Had a quick look at pistons through exhaust ports, they look abit tired so defo needs further inspection when I get it back to my garage.

Stoney doing his usual monkey business.

Took engne apart tonight to inspect barrels, pistons etc. Also get them packed up and sent away for tuning...

No wonder pistons and barrels look abit worn, my bore guages say they're on orginal bores (64mm). Oh well at least I have lots of rebores left.

Off to stans stephens or bobfarnham for rebore and stage 3 tuning.

£350-400 for mito, rd350 with loads of spares £500 from motorcycle college mate. Sold the mito engine and other bits for £180. Still have a whole rd bar engine to sell. Still awaiting end of year bonus as i got paid just before christmas. I earn 22k a year doing motorcycle mechanics and live with parents so I have the spare cash atm.
Thumbs Up

Update
Tonight I mostly did measurements using verniers and tape measure. I want to try and keep the orginal frame geometries as much as possible.

It makes sense to me (keeping notes for machinest) ...
https://img99.imageshack.us/img99/2124/03012008104ma1.jpg

rgv250 shock pretty much perfect, few adjustments needed...
https://img246.imageshack.us/img246/1628/03012008099vj2.jpg

Just a tad longer than mito shock...
https://img99.imageshack.us/img99/4383/03012008101vo1.jpg

Basically rgv shock needs two spacers at the fork joint and the eyelet machined down to mito size...
https://img91.imageshack.us/img91/4170/03012008100ev9.jpg

Front end is proving to be trickier and need to get stem pressed out of rgv yoke and lathed to mito size.

No major updates for a while I think. Stem is off being pressed out of rgv yokes. Most of engine is away with bob farnham being tuned. So hit abit of a dead end for now, not much i can do.

I have been designing my own steam for a engineer to make tho. Abit boring but looks like my only way to fit the front end. At least this way it will look nice and tidy with no spacers etc.

Little update.

Waiting to arrive from posty...
Engine to come back from tuner.
Engine mounts.
RGV rear wheel with custom spacers.
Other yokes/stems.

Bought a cheapish rgv250 shock to play around with. Spent ages cutting and filing the eyelet and bush down to fit tonight.

Amazing what you can do with dremel, saw and file...

That nk racing is Nigel Kimber. His YZF Rep was one of the 'Obsession' series in PB.

He is currently helping the magazine create a Mito 500, with a Honda CR 500 off road stroker engine in it. May be useful resource for your current adventure!

Looking good though - how much power do you reckon you will get out of the engine after tuning?

Not quite sure. Hopefully around 70bhp. The weight shall be giving me my best advantage for the moment, aiming for 130-140kg. I only weigh 56kg to. Thumbs Up

Marjay, you sad man. I draw those late night, I swear! Embarassed :
