hi,
i have come across £660 in GBP travelers cheques (legitimately) that are not in my name but my grandads who has passed away (they were under the carpet when we emptyed the flat), and want to ask if they can be cashed in? i think that they are old ones..
A. the date you fill in begins in 19....
B. did a check up on google (old GBP travelers cheques) and found the exact same ones i have.

anyone know any info on these? can they be cashed in, its quite a bit of money after all.

thanks Thumbs Up

There is no expiry date for travellers cheques AFAIK so they should be able to be cashed, but if they are in your Grandad's name they are part of his estate and should be passed to his executor. They may be able to be cashed before probate iis issued but it's more likely that someone will want to see the probate certificate, or at the very least a copy of the death certificate and the will.

Ask the bank on the cheques (probably American Express), not a motorcycle forum!

You'd have an answer by now!

When did he die?

They were your Grandad's, he wanted you to have the money and signed them accordingly. What are they going to do, get a complaint from him and have him testify?
