More Light?????

As the dark nights are now well and truly upon us, I've noticed how bad the lighs are on my NSR, yeah they give off light but not too much. It's ok if riding in a built up area with loads of street lighting etc but on darker roads it's a bit worrying thinking that if a cat or a dog runs out in front of me I won't see it until I pick my bike up off the floor and have a look around to see what I hit

Are there any lighting solutions out there that are legal?
