Hi guys,

I'm new to bikes and driving in general, I have been on a bike once, is the CBT difficult? Do most peeps pass first time? I know its only training, and have mine on Saturday.

if I pass I am planning to purchase an NSR Smile

I'm sorry...

No it is quite hard to not pass. Some people have stories of people who didn't pass. But they usually involve involentary wheelies and busses Laughing

Welcome to the forum! This is a good little forum (especially if you own a nsr)

Only Joking Mate,

Welcome to the Forum.

The CBT is not a test, it is just basic training to get you used to riding a bike.

Basically you start in a classroom looking at road signs, and possible situations, then at road positions etc.

Then you go out into some sort of private car park, and learn to move the bike forward about 6ft and then wheel it back, after you have done this ten times, you drive around in circles, then you practice figure of eights, then back to the class room for a briefing before taking to the open road where you will be followed and checked to make sure you have paid attention.

Hope this helps,

All the best.

Mike.

PS. NSR's Rule!!!!!!

When I did my CBT in September, half the class failed. There were about 12 of us, all depends who you take it with. There is one place I know in Ham (Surrey, London) where they would pass someone with no arms and legs!

It is pretty easy. But saying that I failed mine 1st time Embarassed although it does not matter really 'cos most places offer free re-tests, which just equates to more training free of charge, which is not a bad thing. Very Happy

The place I took my test would work with you until you passed if it took more than a couple of days you paid extra. She said they did have to tell one person they were not suitable to be on a bike.

It is quite daunting at first but a good instructor will work at your speed and make sure you understand. I was very comfortable after doing my CBT – It was getting on the ‘big’ bike for the first time that frightened me.

Once you get into it you’ll love it!

I think it just depends on the place you do it, some will pass you even if you can't tell your ass from your wheel, and some won't. Very Happy

It would seem to me that if they are failing you so quickly that they may be after you signing up again and handing over further monies.

i think the saying goes, its easier to pass than fail, you have to try very hard to fail whereas to pass you just go with the flow

Because I had never even sat on a bike before and everyone else was on a ped, and there was like 4 people per instructor.

i'm gonna do my CBT soon, and wanna go straight onto an NSR125, do you think i would be better off taking the CBT on a geared bike or on a ped and learn the gears myself?

wouldnt it be easier for me to fail the CBT if i did it on a geared bike?

cheers

Take the CBT on a geared bike, it's best if they teach you how to ride. Very Happy

Well I was going to say that it is nigh on impossible to fail, but having said that I had been driving for 8 1/2 years before I sat it.

I've got to say I would think it would be a whole different experience having never been on the road before! YIKES Shocked
