Anybody any recommendations as to the best plugs to buy?

Want re-usable ones really, but not too expensive.

Anything to stop that annoying snapping noise at 'just over the limit, sir'.

??

Get a sample pack from someone like Sound Distribution to see which ones you like. People can recommend what they like but if you don't like them you won't wear them.

I use these :-

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260307312644

Supposed to be disposable, but I wash them occasionally with antibacterial handwash and they last ages. If you like them, you can buy them in bulk.

You're not trying hard enough!

Slouch over to the union and ask the noisy buggers who work in the venue for some, or grab a passing facilities bod who works with plant or similar. Heck, give the H&S mob a ring and just blag some- you've just installed a dot matrix printer for 'legacy purposes' and it's a mite loud when running.

You'll be bound to find someone knee deep in them if it was anything like the place I worked. (Portsmouth, for my sins)

I use the orange Earsoft ones, but without the stupid string as they don't compress properly. My mate 'borrowed' some from his work for me and I have a supply to last well into next year and beyond.

Cheers

Try as many as you can to find the ones that suit you. Everyone's ears are different and what fits one person may be uncomfortable on someone else.

Some good info HERE. Thumbs Up
